I'm new to buying carving tools as I've just started getting into rubber stamp making. I'll structure this as a pros and cons with my overall thoughts at the end. I hope you find this helpful! Pros: -they feel sturdy in myjand. The handle and blades are attached to each other well. The handles feel strong, at least strong when working with soft materials like rubber or soft woods. I haven't tried with harder materials. -large variety of blades -easy to sharpen (which is also something I'm new to doing. Surprisingly I didn't mess any blades up yet) -comes with a compact case so I can store them without taking up too much space Cons: -all blades came fairly dull -some blades had minor defects (some shown in my second picture, I did my best to make them visible) While there are small defects I feel they can be corrected easily and I'm personally unconcerned with them. Overall: I like these tools. I've carved one stamp already and it went well. The tools are sturdy and they were very easy to sharpen. You really get a lot for the price you pay, so even though there were some small defects I can't complain. This may not be the best set for a professional, but it's a great set for beginners. The tools are small, they are not for large scale wood working (For instance, I wouldn't try to make a wooden cereal bowl with these) they are intended for small scale projects/ detail work, which is exactly what I bought them for. ... show more

This is a nice set of tools for a beginner carver. They come in a nice case that zips close. The tools seems sharp and sturdy. Perfect for a child (8 and above possibly) who desire to learn how to carve!

    • You get what you paid for
To simply put it, the quality of the tools is equivalent to how much you paid for it. These were fairly cheap tools so that means it won’t be amazing. But they did it’s job for a beginners project so it’s worth the money. But if you are serious about this—Maybe don’t get them. The handles are small and thin. So, if you have big hands, these might be tricky to use. They aren’t terrible but they aren’t amazing either. Again, you get what you paid for. ... show more

This tools are comfortable to hold and use I worked with rubber to make stamps so it would cut through like butter.

I used them to carve wood badges, but the tips were too brittle. Before the three words were finished, three knife heads were damaged... The handles are slippery and the grips are not very comfortable.

No. I am not a woodworker. I’m not even an artist, but when my kid said she wanted a Harry Potter pumpkin for Halloween, I know I needed to up our carving game from the cheap tools they sell at Walmart to something that would make life a lot easier. Needless to say, these tools were great. They are also sharp so unless you want to bleed on your pumpkin, make sure to wear the provided gloves. Next year, we will be better but I am far beyond happy with the results this year. ... show more

    • Carving knife gouging set
This set has provided a great deal of assistance in carving tight areas and in carving small projects. The instruments are of good quality but a bit difficult to sharpen for me.
