These are MDF rounds with a base that is nailed and glued on to the back. They come in a set of three. First the small one—the top was too small for the base and adhered crookedly —unusable. The medium one was out of round and also adhered crookedly. The large one wasn’t assembled properly—I had to align the nail heads to the holes, add some wood glue, nail it in place and used clamps until it dried. That made the large one useable —too bad I did all that work before noticing the poor quality of the other two. This has the potential to be a great product but until the company takes better care, I can not recommend. Returning my current set. P.S. The base sides are quite rough and will require sanding and gesso. ... show more

    • Don't waste your money
The round top surface is so completely off-center these are unusable for painting. This is true of all 3. Terrible craftsmanship and no attention to detail. Wish I could give 0 stars!

    • Not wood
These are not wood so the title is misleading. They are fiberboard so the absorb moisture like crazy. You must seal the entire item evenly before painting (top, back and sides).

    • These are very badly made
In theory these are really a good item. But in reality, they are not glued well enough so have gaps around them and the tops don't line up with the supports. I need them for art pieces but I don't think I can use them like this.

So these rounds are not wood, they are particle board--which I guess is some type of wood byproduct? They are okay for small projects and are light weight. I personally prefer a heavier base for my resin work.

    • Fiber board not canvas as stated
These are made of fiber board, not wood. They will need several coats of the primer/sealer before they can be used for painting, which makes them impractical as painting boards.
