I’m in my 50s and don’t wear lipstick anymore. But with my new job, I still wanted something that makes me look nicer, but don’t have to worry about smearing or rubbing off or just looking too much. I bought “Whimsical” and I think it’s perfect. I apply it lightly and remove in 10 seconds. Gives me perfect color for the whole shift. Just enough to darken lips a little without looking weird or like actual lipstick. I didn’t exfoliate beforehand, but my lips didn’t need it. Didn’t use lip balm either, wasn’t necessary, but I will sometimes, if I think of it. Pictures are before and after, and after barely 10 seconds on the lips before wiping it off with a piece of tissue (pay attention to pictures 1 and 4 for best before and after).

I bought several, and am adding to this review as I take more pictures of my face. (I really hope all the photos upload in the correct order...) 1. Natural--no lip stains, makeup, lip balm, etc. 2. This one is Whimsical, and the color tone didn't work for me. It's really pretty, objectively I love the color, but it brings out all the underlying reds in my face and required me to wear a lot more makeup, and since a big draw of lip stains for me is that I can wear *less* makeup, I ended up returning this shade. However, it had really good, even coverage (except for the spot where you can see I bit my lip and there was extra pigment there), I love that I can apply chapstick over it, and lasted a very long time--when I applied it in the morning there was still a tint of it on my lips the next morning. It's unfortunate that it had to be on for ~5 hours before it was a shade that worked for my face, but if it works for your skin tone then go for it! 3. & 4. Crush. I LOVE this one. The coral is exactly what I wanted. The first is Crush freshly applied, the second is after 8 hours of wear and running a 5k. This one is definitely going to be a regular reorder for me! 5. is XOXO, and I really like this one, it is very natural look. It doesn't last as long as Whimsical or Crush for me, maybe because it is a lighter, more natural stain, it seems to wear off around mid-day if I put it on in the morning and I have to re-apply. But otherwise it's great. 6. Lastly, Divine. This one doesn't go on blue/purple, it goes on blood red. And I mean, vampire-went-on-a-binge blood red. When you wipe it off it leaves behind a nice berry color (half the photo is the blood red, the other half is what's left behind when I wiped it off). This one has the shortest duration of all of them, if I put it on in the morning I noticeably have to reapply it in the afternoon--really can't get away with just letting this one fade. It's pretty, but I won't be re purchasing this particular shade.

As I agree get older, I feel like my lips are losing some color and I haaaaate it. I don't want to do lip blushing and I'm not a lipstick person. I hate my lips feeling dry and have to have some sort of balm or something. Saw Wonder skin lip stain and knew I had to try it. I'll make this quick. Does it work? For me, yeah. I found if you don't exfoliate your lips well prior to using that it WILL adhere even darker to every crack or piece of skin or imperfection. As long as you scrub your lips beforehand, it'll be mostly even. I also found you need to apply it thick - you can control how much you put on but it's easy to get it clumpy. So if you swipe it on thick and then it's a little thinner on in a place so you go to add more to make it even....it'll kind of peel and be weird. You have to make sure everything is applied evenly and thick for it to last...which leads to my biggest gripe. It runs out QUICK. If you used this regularly, it's gone fast. I used mine maybe three times a week and it lasted less than a month. So while I LOVE that it actually stains your lips so you don't need to reapply a lip color/liner...you will go through it very fast. And at the price point, that is rough for me because I'm pretty frugal and don't like to spend a lot of money. Doesn't seem to make my lips sticky or dry. Fades a little blotchy. LOVE the color Whimsical -- it looked prefect on my skin. Not super obvious but still enough color to make me look polished. I really enjoy this stuff but it can be a pain to apply evenly and runs out very quickly.

You gotta work with it and not expect miracles. I bought Whimsical and Romance. Whimsical is the most versatile, while Romance is best for red lips. As far as longevity - it definitely does NOT last all day, unless you don’t plan to eat! HOWEVER, if you lower your expectations a bit, it WILL last throughout a dinner date, and maybe a bit longer. Which is enough for me, because it drives me crazy when my lipliner disappears during dinner and I have to go to reapply in order to keep my look. As far as the stain, I found that 30 seconds wasn’t enough to make much of a stain that would last. I leave mine on until the blue dye is dry, approx 5 minutes. Whoa, right? But it works. Especially if I over-line it a bit. Now, as far as the evenness - if you paint it all over your lips, to include the inner parts - it will look like you have a bloody lip. I’ve learned to ONLY apply it to the outer lips, the part that shows to the world. For some reason, it doesn’t work with the inner lip. So, you gotta play with it to fine what works for you!

Okay so just for reference, I am a pale girl. We're talking the sun has not touched my genes in probably centuries and if the weather forecast says it's going to be sunny, I preemptively burn. So, I need a little bit of help if I don't want to look like the ghost of Christmas past. If I knew anything at all about make-up, I'd probably be a lipstick girl, but alas, I am absolutely useless at doing anything past a few basic techniques that I picked up from the wonderful world of youtube back in the day. I also tend to prefer a very natural sort of look for my own personal taste. I was very much influenced by social media on this one, and it's one of those cases where I'm glad I was influenced because I will end up keeping this in my makeup bag for years to come. I really don't wear or own lipstick, but this adds a nice pop of color to my lips that definitely brightens up my face. The stain itself is VERY subtle. It could pass for my lips but slightly more vibrant, which is exactly the look I am going for. If you are hoping for something more dramatic, you might want to look elsewhere. Do not believe the videos that show this peeling off. This isn't that kind of product. Swipe it on like a lipgloss - a heavier coating is better - and then let it sit for about a minute or so. I usually use a damp tissue to remove it and this works really well. A couple quick tips: 1) Make sure your lips are nice and exfoliated. This is really true of anything that stains your lips, but just so you don't end up with sort of a weird patchy effect, make sure your lips are free of dead skin. 2) Do this before you do any sort of foundation, unless you're an absolute wizard at wiping because otherwise you'll need to redo the makeup around your lips. Overall I think this is a nice option if you want something very subtle that will last for a reasonable amount of time. It's not an all day sort of product, at least not for me, but it does the job if I'm going out.

I bought this product because the older I get, the more I CANNOT STAND leaving lipstick marks on my coffee cups and water bottles. It's so gross. And I work from home so unless I am on camera for a meeting, I don't wear lipstick around the house. The thought of applying a lipstain in the morning and enjoying lightly hued (but dry) lips throughout the day appealed to me!m So I gave it a try! In a nutshell, this product works. I bought the Whimsical. I have olive/tanned skin and a natural pink/brown lip color. The Whimsical is a brownish red on me and provides more color than I expected (I was hoping for something closer to my natural lip color in a pink/nude hue). The color is very different than the sample pics online. It's easy to apply; I felt my lips drying out as the stain dried. It was easy to remove but continued to darken over the next couple of minutes. When I put a clear gloss on top, the color really popped. I won't be wearing a clear gloss, though since that would defeat the purpose of being lipstick-free. One recommendation: You will need to exfoliate and moisturize your lips really well before using this. My lips were a bit dry and had a crack on one side (it's dry here and the weather turned cold recently, making my lips chap right away) so the color was uneven in the corner of my mouth. Also, make sure to apply a smooth, generous coat (kinda like if you were applying a second coat of nailpolish), only make sure to apply the stain evenly and immediately. If you apply a coat, wait a few seconds and then try to back over with another coat, it won't work. The first coat will smear and you won't be able to apply over it (like I said, like nail polish). I ate dinner right away and immediately after, noticed that the color generally stayed on my lips but the outline was darker (like a lipliner). I hope this is just a symptom of my dry lips and will improve after exfoliation and moisturizing for next time. Lastly, when I received the tube, the product was sealed in a plastic wrap. However, when I removed the stick from the tube, there was product all over the top instead of being clean so I certainly hope this wasn't previously used and re-sealed (see picture)! They lost a star because of this.
