I recently bought black-out curtains and they were terrible - should've been called "let all the light in curtains". So, I ordered these curtains as a replacement and I love them! Not 100% black-out but about 95%, which works for me. They are not sheer at all (adding this because the review specifically asked for a rating for sheerness (Tip: black-out curtains aren't supposed to be sheer). The material is smooth and soft and the curtains have a good weight to them because they're lined with black material (for black-out). These are the best blackout curtains I've ever purchased. Pattern is nice and they are heavy. LOVE. the only problem is that i didn't hang them high enough so light peeks in thru the top. But it blocks light and heat incredibly well. I am going to buy them for other rooms
