We bought these boots for my daughter for a trip to snow covered mountains in the summer. She loved how water proof they are and keeps her feet warm when out in the cold. But they had very little traction on the snow (leave alone ice). I had thought of buying a pair for myself for the winter but will probably not be doing that. If you are more in the mid Atlantic region, snow/ice are not huge deals, these will work fine for you.

These are cute and I am keeping them but I did order some insoles for them. There is no support at all in them but hopefully the insoles will help. I do like the velcro feature and they fit well otherwise. Edit: I did get insoles and they feel better. Don't think these boots would be good for a lot of walking though but find for trips to grocery store and dog walking a short way.
