* I had the privilege of reading an Advance Reader's Copy and this is my book review for "Woman Evolve" by Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts: This book has an encouraging message for women who have struggled to see hope beyond harm, accept God's promises beyond pain, and trust beyond trauma (especially, the self-inflicted, know-better-but-didn't-do-better types). Though Eve sinned miserably and received curses, God still gave a promise of a Seed that would triumph over the serpent and that Seed was realized through Mary: JESUS CHRIST. Redemption. Restoration. Hope. This book wants women to recognize that there are elements of both Eve and Mary in them and gives the charge to evolve to become the women God purposed for them be. Different gems are featured throughout and the book has "Working It Out" sections to get readers thinking and prompting them for action. It is easy to leave it there and feel amped up and inspired, but you must make sure that you are in fact, in right relationship with God in order for Him to work in and through you. Outside of a proper relationship with God, this book will serve like any other self-help book if you fail to go deeper and do what the Bible says. You can feel hype and make moves but you will find yourself operating in your own strength, struggling at times with passion or motivation, becoming a worker of iniquity because you're choosing to serve God the way you want to and not the way He said to, and you'll be easily deceived by your good works, worldly success, and the applause of others, all while being out of alignment with God and His Word. What does it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul? Being a good woman doesn't mean a true believer, saint, and daughter of God. You must go beyond this book, get into the Bible and through prayer, into the manifested Presence of God. I think an emphasis on what it means to be a woman of God was something that needed to be included in this book because there is a doctrine of devils and a sugar-coated gospel being preached that doesn't call for the forsaking of sin and the dying to self, reduces the washing away of sins through water baptism in Jesus Name to just a "public display of belief," focuses on the grace and love of God and not His command to obey Him and be holy, and tells people they only have to confess, believe, and receive Christ into their hearts, when the Word clearly tells us that even the devils believe, and that you've got to act according to faith and belief through repentance, water baptism, being filled with the Holy Ghost (evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance), and a life of surrender/obedience. Often, people think that they're in right relationship with God because they're operating in their gifts and calling but fail to remember gifts and calling are without repentance. You can't partner with God outside of relationship with Him. You've got to be born again: dead to self, alive to Christ! Once you have the new birth experience (water baptism and being Spirit filled), Christ is in you and can operate through you in authentic partnership as you yield to His Spirit. If you fail to walk in the Spirit but live according to the flesh, that is being carnal, which is death. Repentance is mandatory for the unbeliever, believer, and backslider! If you have been born again, are obedient to the Word of God, and walking in the Holy Spirit, only then can it be true, as Pastor Sarah penned God saying, "Woman, evolve! You can trust who you're becoming because you've trusted Me with your becoming." ... show more

I pre-ordered this book and got the first two chapters before the release. Let me tell you - this book is life changing!! It challenges you to confront who you think you are to become who God says you are. This book will continue to guide me through the deep work of self discovery and healing.

This book is a journey into your perspective of oneself through the concept of a woman vilified for a mistake. The process of giving grace and receiving grace along with redemption is definitely profound. To obtain the full impact of this book it is highly recommend that you read first for an overview then a second time with the following items to gain the most out of the nuggets given. I was able to read an advanced copy of Woman Evolve. Once I began reading it, I knew I had to share it with friends. This book is a must read. It will change your perspective about Eve. In reading, I notice I have a LOT of Eve in me. Pastor Sarah did a wonderful job challenging us to confront who we think we are to become whom God wants us to be. Amazing. My first ever Amazon review. If you are not ready for change this book may not be for you. But then again, please start it anyway. I’m half way through and journaling and praying and fasting with it and it is uorooting things I never knew was there. No woman left behind is the motto.
