  • VERY, VERY COMFORTABLE BIKE SEAT / SADDLE (City)
Style: City
I purchased the City saddle. THIS THING WAS VERY WELL THOUGHT OF! The ergonomics of my WITTKOP City Saddle are PERFECT on my ass. VERY, VERY, VERY WELL DONE! I am a 5’9, 225 - 230lb muscular man. This WITTKOP City Saddle works very good for us bigger, larger frame men (muscle and fat). It has metal bars under the seat to thread a cable bike lock through so no one steals this phenomenal bike seat… or… “saddle.” LOL! It is PERFECT! Just buy it and see for yourself. It snuggly fits PERFECTLY under every curve of my ass. That’s the best way to describe it. It’s like they scientifically took every curve of how an ass is shaped sitting down and just formed a seat around that and that supports that! My WITTKOP City MTB Saddle is very compact and plush! It’s not overly big. It’s just a really good, not overly big, but still fits with any bike size perfectly! Very well made. I had to try it mostly because of the 12,000+ 5 star and 4 star reviews. -AND because it’s made in Germany. And you know the Germans with their engineering… they don’t sleep until it’s perfect! My HK VP9… -PERFECT! PORSCHE 911… -PERFECT! My WITTKOP City Saddle… -PERFECT! All German Engineering. What a Great comfortable MTB (Mountain Bike) seat / saddle. I am very pleased with my purchase. Thank You! I am planning on using this on my MTB for long rides to and from work, daily cruising around for fun also. And a few high speed runs… LOL! And after a burst of speed I can feel comfortable and confident to sit down on this perfectly, thick, plush ergonomically shaped WITTKOP City Saddle to relax and catch my breath before the next high speed run on my XL 29 inch MTB. Great purchase. I was thinking if I should buy this WITTKOP City Saddle or another one. And now I see why this has so many 5 star reviews. And now I can say also… it’s true; it is that good of a saddle / MTB seat. The City one is perfect for long rides. The airflow design is great! It is cool airflow. BUY IT! You will be thankful and glad you purchased the WITTKOP bike saddle of your choice based on your needs and wants. ... show more

  • Worked very well for my body type
Style: Touring
I put this saddle on my old, state of the art 1999 mountain bike. I had used a Specialized Body Geometry seat for years, but after starting to ride again after several years off, the old saddle no longer was as comfortable as it once had been. FYI, I am 66 years old, 5'11, and weigh about 215 lbs. And my poor wife will tell you, no butt at all, lol. I chose this saddle because it seemed like the right compromise of the 3 saddles available, being wider than some but still a reasonable width. Installation was relatively easy, it comes with a "post" mount but after removing this it fit well on my seat post. Since you can tell my above body description, I need to lose a good 30+ lbs before I worry about the last gram of weight, so I didn't worry about comparing it to my old seat. First ride was yesterday, and I have to say it was more comfortable for me than the old Specialized saddle. I liked that it supported my hip bones well but with a cushion, plus I was able to move around a bit so if one spot was getting sore, I could shift a bit on the seat and find another spot that felt better. I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much better my butt handled a 1.5 hour ride, which made me glad I made the purchase. Each body is different, but for me this seat in this width was a good chose for a recreational rider like me. ... show more

  • Friend to the female undercarriage!
Style: Touring
This review will provide some insight to a few other products as well. I am a 35 year old female. I’ve had 3 children. Height: 5’0 weight: 135lbs bust:37, waist:29, hip:42. As you can tell I have quite a large hip- which doesn’t actually mean your sit bones are wide but If I had to guess, I’d say there is probably some correlation between the two… I also tend to roll my pelvis forward (something I’m working on) and tend to put a ton of pressure on the front of my sit bones, closest to my groin. Now prior to me trying those seat out, I had not been on a bicycle since a little over 1 year ago, when bought a hybrid bike (don’t know why I thought it would be easier to ride) the seat it came with was larger and (foam) padded and I still had pain but I was able to get by (probably why I chose it) The gears, however, were poor and it made it impossible to go off the concrete. Prior to that I had a mountain bike and tried every wide saddle in Walmart and still had tons of pain. I finally decided to go with a noseless seat, which definitely helped with pain and was in fact the least painful EXCEPT I had a hard time keeping myself from sliding off the seat no matter how it was angled or positioned. Keep in mind I was still riding on concrete because my behind could not handle any impact. Fast forward to last weekend… we bought a brand new women’s Trek Marlin 5, which is quite nice, I can go in sand now!! The seat it came with however had me in pain for a solid 5 days after only riding on it for 3 minutes at the bike shop parking lot. I knew I liked this bike, however, I also knew I needed to find the perfect saddle. After reading tons of reviews, research, you tube videos etc; I decided I give the “Amazon special” (Wittkop) and the widest Terry brand gel saddles a try (Cite X Gel & Cite X Gel Italia) Keep in mind, Terry is designed by a woman for women (&& men) and claim to be the works most comfortable saddle. I purchased 4 saddles total. The two Terry saddles mentioned, and the Wittkop City, and Trekking/Touring . I was hoping to keep the smallest of the least painful. I also decided to invest in some bike shorts (I went with the Baleaf cycle underwear/bikini style, which has padding higher in the front & Baleaf 5in brief with pockets). First saddles to arrive were the Wittkop. I tried the smaller of the two, the Trekking. (I was also wearing the both the bikini and brief for double padding because last experience had my butt terrified.) We test drove on lime rock roads; like bumpy concrete. After 3-5 minutes I was shocked to find that not only could I keep going, but went back to the truck to ditch the 2nd layer of padding (Baleaf brief). I rode 8 miles & I never tried the city Wittkop. The next day I decided to purchase from REI women’s padded link liners briefs. They are a 4 inch inseam, slightly shorter than Baleaf briefs but the padding comes up further in the front like the Baleaf bikinis and are meant to be worn under a different pair of shorts and not AS the shorts (which I like). I prefer the look of running shorts rather than bike shorts, thus, I will probably get the most use from the REI link padded briefs and the Baleaf cycle underwear/bikini. 2 days later we headed back out, this time to the forrest. We brought along the Terry Cite X gel Italia and Wittkop trekking/touring seat. 1 minute in, I knew the Terry saddle was not going to work. But I still rode 2 miles (very uncomfortably) to give it a fair shot. The Terry Was not nearly as shock absorbing as the Wittkop. Switched the seats and I road another 6 miles, on bumpy Forrest trails. The amount of relief I got after switching the seats told me I had found the one. The Wittkop is about $27 cheaper than the Terry also! I highly recommend the Wittkop trekking/touring seat and BIKESHORTS!! I imagine that after regular riding I may be able to forgo the shorts, BUTT UNTIL THEN….. ... show more

  • Not comfortable for longer rides
Style: MTB
I have a 30 minute bike ride that I needed a new seat for and when I saw this one I had to try it. It adds little to no weight to my bike and it seems comfortable at first. It was comfortable for the first 15 minutes of my ride but after that it definitely feels like it starts to dig into you. It's smooth enough that it doesn't seem to rub against the inside of your legs, at least, not for me, and it fit pretty well on the seatpost I had so I didn't need to get an adapter or anything. Overall great for shorter distances, definitely not so much for longer ones ... show more
