  • So far, so good... does what it says... but...
Color: Type C - Short Version
I kind of want to give 5 stars, because it does do what it says it does. I went from a Galaxy S8 Active, which I love but had to replace because I wanted to get off Sprint and I can't really take the phone to any other provider. I moved to an unlocked Galaxy A50, which overall has everything I "need" at a price I can afford right now, with the exception of wireless charging. This gives me that option, however with a few caveats that I think are important to note, but are not part of the product description. 1) It's not fast charge capable. While the USB-C can handle fast charging up to 15W, this wireless converter does not. Most of the time this will not be an issue for me because the A50 has a HUGE (by most phone standards) 4000mah battery so I shouldn't have to worry much about needing to quick charge during the day. My S8 typically got me through the whole day as well, so I'm used to just charging overnight. 2) Charger Fit/Placement. The charger fits fine inside the basic case just fine, It's not really visibly noticeable unless you know to look for it, but I can feel it as I handle the phone. I chose the short version, which seems to put the pad in the lower third of my phone, and it seems to make it a bit picky in placement on my chargers. On my stand charger, the phone seems to lean back and loses contact with the charger in portrait mode, last night in landscape mode it seemed to work ok. I think this is a mix of the height of my phone and using the short version. I'm debating on maybe exchanging for the long version to see if moving the charging pad more to the center of the phone makes a difference. In the mean time I also have a pad style charger on my desk that I may end up moving to the bedside table for my overnight charging needs. 3) You "lose" the use of the USB port. So in order to work, obviously this needs to plug in to your USB port. Which means you can't use it for anything else without unplugging it. If you use this with a case (which is recommended cause otherwise the charge coil is unprotected), you can't unplug it without removing the case. I'm not sure just how much of an issue this will be at the moment. My main "concern" in this area is that when I'm hiking/backpacking, I often do burn thru the battery with photos/video taking and carry a portable battery for recharging. I have a large one that will do wireless, but it's not what I'd carry with me hiking... so when I go hiking, I may likely end up removing this so I can plug in to my portable. This is something that when you realize it, it's obvious, but they don't really mention it at all in the overall description. You do find this out reading other user comments and such, but I think they should be more up-front about it. One suggestion, find a way to allow some sort of pass-through charging. I suppose doing a pass through port would add some bulk to the bottom of the plug, so don't think that would work. But what about making it like those magnetic charger adapters and include a tip you could add to any USB C charging cable. That way when needed, you can use that cable to charge. Anyhow... I've only had this a few days, and for the cost I would recommend it to anyone wanting to add wireless charging.. just making sure they're aware of the little accommodations you'll need to make over a device with native capability. I'll try to update further later after I've used it for awhile, and/or if I do swap out for the long version. ... show more

  • Works Great, no bulge!
Color: Type C - Short Version
Summary: Works great Fits in my case with no bulge The case charging port hole was a perfect fit for the plug It did not require moving around to find a sweet spot to work on my Qi charger stands It charges reasonably fast, not quite as fast as the stock turbo chargers but faster than most. While charging the phone warmed up a bit but never got warmer than with the Motorola stock chargers came It looks good and does not stick out on my setup in any way that detracts from the "look" of our phones. The longer version: We had wireless charging Windows Lumia 735 phones and bought two double coil charger stands that worked great five years back and have been in a drawer for 2 or three years since we got our two Motorola Z phones and then the newer Z3s . Now, we have our second set of Motorola Z phones, because Microsoft dropped phone support. But the Moto Z3s do not have built in wireless charging and use the USB C connectors. I had seen several of these advertised and hesitated because there were more than a few. I had to buy several chargers until we found the ones in the pictures. I was sure this was going to be a series of experiments and costly. I was hoping to find one that had Motorola on the list this had a moto but not my model in the list. I just wanted fast charging, no overheating, and not have to buy another case as the Motorola Z series is not very supported any more by Motorola. I might as well have thrown darts to choose and somehow lucked out! It came fast, in great packaging, and looked too simple. I was leery because I have the Speck thin but very protective case. I was sure it was going to bulge or look bad. My Speck case is one piece very good protection but covers the Moto Z series Mod connectors on the back. We had the original Z phones and bought the mods for them. We kept those phones just to use the Projector, the JBL speaker. WE have two battery packs that do wirelessly charge but made them too big for any case to go over them both, phone with battery pack attached to the back. I also thought the charging port hole on the case might be too small and bulge there. It fit perfectly! The only adjusting I had to do was to pop the silver head through the charge port in the case and it was a perfect fit! Then I charged my phone on it for the first time. These Qi double coil wireless charging stands I have had for 5 years (and two years in the drawer) do not need the phone to be in any particular position just upright as in the pics. It charged at a slower rate than the Motorola fast chargers that came with our two Motorola phones. But the charging speed was much faster than I expected. I am fine since I have one at my desk and my nightstand. My new car (Tesla Model Y) has navigation so the big drain for my phone is gone. And it has a wireless charging pad built into the car and this wireless adapter works great there too. Much better than keeping the phone connected by wire to use Nav for prolonged periods. I love the big screen in the Tesla for nav as I don't need reading glasses to use it, or have non polarized sunglasses to see my navigation maps on the relatively tiny 6.3" screen If you want wireless charging this is the ticket. Make sure you get a two coil at least 1.5 A (1500mA) wireless Qi charger and your results should be as exceptional as mine. Get one! I'm so glad I lucked out with this with no one I know recommending it. ... show more

  • Easy to install
Color: Type C - Short Version
Bought to add pad charging to my OminPod 5 insulin pump controller. Fits easily inside the silicone case & I just put my controller on a wireless charging pad.

  • Works great, slower charging, but if you are leaving it overnight, who cares?
Color: Type C
I read a lot on my Kindle fire 7" but I hate the fact it does not have wireless charging. I bought an 8" to get the wireless charging, but I like the smaller size of the 7". I also tried the paperwhite, but I have been spoiled by color screen for too long to go to black and white. Found this and it works great! Bonus is that I have it on the outside of the case, so I can charge it with the case on! It does charge slower than using a cable directly, but my Kindle lasts 10 hours and I charge it overnight. Great value! ... show more
