  • Very good CarPlay/Android Auto screen with one or two issues
Overall, I really like this CarPlay/Android Auto screen. The screen is big, sharp and a touchscreen. Pairing it with my car and my iPhone was very easy. There are two ways to put it in your car, using a sticky pad to mount it to your dashboard, or using the separate suction cup mount to attach it to the windshield. I used the suction cup mount which is very strong and allows you to adjust the screen up, down, around it's axis, and closer or further from the windshield. My biggest complaint about the device (which would be cheap and easy for the manufacturer to fix) is that it isn't easy to switch between the mounts because the screen attaches to the mounts via four small Phillips head screws, and more importantly, it isn't possible to quickly detach the screen from the mount (which I would like to be able to do so that people would be less likely to break into my car to steal it - causing more damage than the device is worth). They need to switch to a quick detach release to separate the screen from whichever mount you use. It is nice that they include both types of mounts. Other reviews have complained about the quality of the internal speaker and the microphone. The microphone works fine for me, and the speaker is fine for phone calls and driving instructions, but if you want higher quality sound for music play, connect to your existing car stereo by either bluetooth, FM radio, or the included audio cable if your car stereo has an input jack. My car is a 2013 Prius with a very expensive but crappy navigation system that doesn't support either CarPlay or Android Auto and which costs about $200 if you just want to upgrade the navigation maps (no thank you). Thankfully, technology has improved considerably over the last decade and this is a pretty inexpensive way to upgrade the system in an older car. I love CarPlay, it is much simpler and easier to use than trying to navigate my iPhone on a car mount, and the screen is much larger than my iPhone's screen (and I have the iPhone 15 PRO Max). So in summary this is a great buy, I just wish they made it easier to separate the screen from the mount so you can take the "attractive nuisance" screen out of the car when you are not driving (it would also make it easier to take with you to use in a rental car). [I don't have the version with either a front or rear camera so I can't comment on those features of similar models]. ... show more

  • Good buy
Works very well. Many different ways to connect to car ie: aux cord, FM etc. Allows for the ability to adjust all settings such as driving habits, lane departure, sleep setting. Dash camera can be rotated to different angles. Split screen capabilities with a nice big screen in general. Very pleased.

  • So close to being great
For context, I got this for a 2008 BMW 335i which didn't have the factory navigation but did have support for Bluetooth phone calls and an aux port for music. For years now, I'd been playing music from my Android phone through the car's aux port and making calls through the car's built-in Bluetooth. I was really drawn to this unit because I wanted a larger screen that didn't stick out over my dash as much -- the widescreen form factor was perfect for me. The unit was incredibly easy to set up, and I had it paired to my Pixel 3a with everything up and running within a minute or two. I used to suction mount so that the screen would sit in front of my dash, and not on top of it. I was really impressed by the suction mount: it was virtually stuck to my windshield even before I had pushed down the lever to suck the air out. My dashboard is textured, so I'd have to get an additional mounting disc if I wanted to use the suction mount on the dash. The ball mount socket behind the screen works with standard 17mm ball mounts. My plan is to eventually go with a vehicle-specific Kuda mount, so that the screen can sit even lower. The power cable was long enough for me to run it around the dash and into the glovebox, where I already had a cigarette lighter socket tapped into the ignition fuse. The unit comes on whenever I start my car, and Android Auto is ready to go usually within ~30 seconds. The screen is plenty bright for me, but it's inevitable that there's going to be some glare whenever the sun is directly overhead. I personally found the touchscreen controls to be quick and responsive, and I have yet to experience any delay. There's no tactile feedback, but I do appreciate the audio clicks that occur whenever I touch a button on the screen. Like I said, I was already using an audio cable for outputting sound from my phone into the car's 3.5mm aux port, so I just plugged the cable into the new screen instead. At this point, everything was working expected: apps like Google Maps and Youtube Music ran just fine; I had music coming through my car speakers; I was able to start/answer phone calls from the screen (with the audio also coming through my car speakers). However, as other reviews have mentioned, the audio quality through the aux port is not great. The quality isn't horrible, but it definitely sounded muffled compared to the same audio playing directly from my phone though the same port. I haven't tried using the FM option, but I can't imagine it sounding any better. This is when I started to explore the "Bluetooth option" for audio, but it's also where things started to get a bit weird. The unit itself does NOT have a Bluetooth transmitter -- to be fair, it's never advertised as having one. When you select "(BT) Carplay/Auto" from the Audio Output menu, you're asked to connect your phone directly to the Bluetooth receiver of your car stereo. Since my car only supported Bluetooth for phone calls, I resorted to using a Bluetooth receiver like the Tunai Firefly LDAC instead (highly recommend btw). From the Bluetooth settings menu on my phone, I simply turned off "Media audio" for the screen and made sure that all audio went to my Bluetooth receiver instead. Once this was done, whenever I started my car, my phone would pair with the BT receiver for audio output and pair with the screen to get Android Auto started. The improvement in audio quality was also quite noticeable. But here is the first weird thing that I noticed: with the "(BT) Carplay/Auto" audio option selected, the screen would automatically turn its own Bluetooth receiver off every time it finished loading Android Auto. I don't know how Google Maps and Youtube Music can continue to run without an ostensible connection to my phone, but it does. I also noticed that the audio from my phone calls was playing through the phone's own speakers. In hindsight, I can see how this behavior would make sense -- without the aux port or FM, the unit has no way of delivering the phone audio to my car speakers. Fine, I thought, I'd just keep my phone paired to the car itself for calls. This is where I noticed the second weird thing: the screen will NOT start Android Auto unless it's allowed to manage phone calls. Since my phone will always finish pairing with the car before it can do the same with the screen, this means that the screen essentially "steals" the control of phone calls away (before eventually shutting off its BT), leaving my call audio to come through the phone speakers yet again. The only way for me to correct this is to open up my phone and direct calls through my car's BT manually, which kinda goes against my attempt to streamline my setup. I really really want to like this unit, not simply because of its price (I don't mind spending more if I can get everything working the way I need them to), but because everything seemed to work great otherwise. I've reached out to customer support, hoping that there might be a firmware update that can help resolve my issues. PROS: - Easy to set up, assuming that you're sticking with the Aux/FM options for audio. - Flexible mounting options. - I love the form factor. CONS: - The audio quality is not great (but I didn't expect it to be for the price). - Could have included a 3M mounting disc for the suction mount. - Can't customize that startup screen/logo. Bugattis are nice, don't get me wrong. But I'm near 100% certain that I wouldn't be using this unit if I were driving around in a Bugatti ;) ... show more

  • Works Well with Older Cars
This works perfectly for an older car. There is a few-second lag between songs and controlling through the phone. It has more than enough features for me personally. It is easy to navigate and the sound is good, I connect it to a radio station. The picture is clear and colorful. I also LOVE the bigger screen, especially for navigation. I bought this with a coupon, which makes this an affordable alternative to replacing the audio system or upgrading a car. My 2014 Nissan Rogue will last another day because of this device. ... show more
