  • Great Floatation!
Size: 25" Color: Black
I was going to buy a pair of ankle gaiters to use with these but don't really need them! I love these snowshoes because they are comfortable, easy to put on, and float very well. I bought them last winter and am excited that we have snow already this winter because I get to use them again! I just leave the house, put them on, and wander wherever my nose takes me. I wasn't sure, at first, if the smaller footprint of these shoes would affect floatation negatively (I'm 5'11" and 190lbs), but I'm happy to say there is no problem! If anything, the smallness makes walking in them much easier! The cleat design makes for very secure footing with no sideslipping. Yes, that makes them a bit noisy, but I find some of the comments about this to be overstated. If the choice is between quiet or traction, I'll take traction every time. They seem very durable as after a fair bit of use last winter, they still look like new this winter. I'm 75 years old and bending over is getting to be more difficult, but once the bindings are set properly, getting in and out of these is quite easy, requiring very little exertion. My feet stay securely in position once the bindings are set. I use these with trek poles or a hiking stick, but use without any poles is very doable. There is nothing I would change about these showshoes. They are a real value when compared with similar brand name snowshoes like MSR. I don't know how well they work in very deep powdery snow, but we always have at least a foot of snow on the ground all winter, usually more, and they work great! ... show more

  • Help with bindings
Size: 25" Color: Dark Blue
My first afternoon with these snowshoes was a great experience. The shoes are light and the poles adjusted perfectly. I had zero problems with any straps, bindings, poles, or the screw on snow baskets/bails loosening up. Unfortunately, figuring out how to adjust the bindings the first time was no fun, just as other reviewers reported. It would have helped if the manufacturer had included a simple drawing of the workings of the buckles. It seems obvious after you get it right though. Here’s what you need to do: 1. Slide the ridged strap between the entire ratchet mechanism and the receiving strap it’s attached to. 2. Push it in until one or more ridges click in. 3. Pull up on the ratchet mechanism to feed in the ridged strap bump by bump until it snugs up on your boot. ... show more

  • Bummer no more!
Size: 30" Color: Gold
UPDATE: I reached out to the company and explained my situation. Initially I was frustrated because they do not have weekend support, so felt quite adrift. When they did get in touch first thing on Monday, they were very accommodating. I got my new poles and luckily there was still enough snow on the ground to give them a go. Once I sat down to put them on, I realized they were very intuitive and easy to get into. The only thing support had to explain was the metal clamps at the heel, that are for use on hills only. As far as the snowshoeing experience itself, given I am a beginner I honestly have no idea how they compare. I find them easy to walk in, and they seem to do the job they are intended to do. Thanks especially to Ryan at Winterial for following up so thoroughly to be sure I was happy. I only gave four stars because of the initial issue with the purchase. As far as the product itself, it is worthy of five in my opinion. My original review: I am so disappointed! We have perfect weather for snowshoeing right now with over a foot of powdery snow, but rain may ruin it all next week. So I was really excited to place this order, and (I thought) get it yesterday. I was looking forward to spending my day today testing them out. Sadly, when I opened the package I found no poles! There are also no instructions on how to put the snowshoes on, leading me to wonder if this was a return that no one inspected. Of course the vendor is closed today, and Amazon's only recourse is to return/replace the entire order. Meaning, there will likely be no snow by the time I get the replacement. What a bummer! The snowshoes look cool, and the included bag would be handy for travel. Aside from that, I have no idea if the product is any good since I can't try them out. ... show more

  • These are exceptional!
Size: 30" Color: Gold
The media could not be loaded. This is my first and only pair of snow shoes to be honest so it's rather difficult to say in terms of snow shoes just how good or not good they really are! My impressions as a snow shoeing novice is that they are easy to put on and bind, walk in snow whether powdery or a better snow pack, hold up well, remove them, use the poles, and pack it in the bag they came in! The bind where the snow shoe and the part that keeps your foot connected gives way in the back which caught me by surprise! I don't know if all snow shoes do this? ... show more

  • Good quality, great starter set
Size: 30" Color: Gold
So many choices and can be confusing. I finally decided to go with this package. I'm 190#, 5' 10". I bought the larger size for upto 250#, I think was the weight, taking into consideration, clothing, hydration pack with 3L water, snacks, assortment of safety equipment (first aid, fire starter, light, etc) would be pushing my total weight upwards in the 220 range. I only used these on packed trails, so really easy to use, just wanted to get use to the feel. I did try in deep powder, you do sink of course, but at least manageable. It comes with a set of hiking poles, which I must admit are much better than my original hiking poles I used for summer hiking. The bag is a must, if only so you have something to put the shoes back in when they're covered in snow so it doesn't melt all over the backseat or where ever, and it's nice to have to carry around. They've held up well this year. I only managed about 4 trips, each being 3-6 miles each. Pros: Good package deal, great hiking poles, awesome value. Cons: the buckling system can be a bit difficult at first, especially when wearing larger hiking boots like I have pictured. But that's the only thing I could think of as a "downside" others may love this style of straps. They're definitely worth the investment if you're looking to start showshoeing and get a feel for it without investing hundreds of dollars only to find out you hate it. Take them out on some groomed trails at first and move up from there. ... show more
