I almost cancelled this item because of the bad reviews; it has very pretty wood; perfect size for a hall or entryway. Took minutes to put together; for the price you can't beat this little bench. I would not sit on it but its perfect to set bags on or another row of shoes.

Good bench with cosmetic flaw
I bought this shoe bench for it's slightly larger dimensions to fit perfectly in our vestibule and hold all of my family's shoes. My husband's gigantic size 17 sneakers can rest on the shelves without sticking out too much. The bench is sturdy enough for my kids to climb around on, and I would expect it to support an average weight adult. I had zero problems assembling it. The parts were packaged just enough for protection during shipping, but without excessive waste, which I and the planet appreciate. All the hardware was there, the pre-drilled holes were perfectly aligned, and the instructions were easy to follow. My only problem with the bench is that there is an obvious blemish in the veneer. It looks like it was manufactured with the flaw allowed in the material. I don't really mind the blemish because the bench is just utilitarian for my family, but if I was keeping it in a more visible area of my house, I would probably exchange it for another.

We purchased this to use strictly as a shoe rack, not a bench. Shipping went smoothly. Assembly was easy - all holes drilled in exactly the right places. The finish of the product was very good. It looks nice. As others have said, I would not recommend using this as a bench. It works perfectly well as a shoe rack, but it's a bit lightly constructed for use as a bench.

Needs improvement. Buy your own brackets!
Pros: Overall assembly was okay. Things fit if you use your head and take it slow. The shelf holds a lot of shoes. It's sturdy enough if you sit straight down. Cons: One of the drill holes didn't make it all the way through and the slats aren't stained all the way to the end (which you may notice if the shelf assembly comes apart). It could use a better fit and finish. Fit and finish isn't as good as O'Sullivan brand, for example. Due to lack of cross-bracing, if you wobble any side to side as you sit, the bench wobbles with you. That's poor design. Two children rough-housing might break it. Careful adults will probably be okay. Overall: It's got some issues. It costs a bit much for what it is. Slap some pillows on the top and dob a little Old English here and there. For what I paid I expected better. Edit: I've had this a year now and it has a lot of side-to-side movement in it. I am not sure it'll last another year. Reduced my review to 1 star. This is a piece of junk that needs some bracing. Edit 2: I found some Stanley corner brackets at the hardware store that fit. They're brass. I put 4 on the back and the wobble is gone. This solves the issue of wobbliness and these brackets should have been included with the kit. Cost is less than $10 and it takes about an hour to drill pilot holes and then put the brackets on yourself.

Great Color. Seems sturdy enough.
I was surprised at how light the box was, I was expecting it to be heavy. I must say the color of this product is amazing. It's a rich teak-wood color, really fantastic. It seems sturdy enough, I wouldn't drop it out of a window. For me this was the perfect solution to all the shoes laying around my garage door. Plus you can sit on the bench when taking your shoes on or off. The bolts included were good quality and they even give you a few extra. It's made in China.

Nicely designed and very sturdy
I love this product. I use it in my breezeway for our shoes and I can put 12 pairs of shoes and in the summer the amount of flip flops and sandals doubles. It is very sturdy. You can sit on to put your shoes on.

Nice bench but…
Nice unit, but some of the screws were too short requiring me to go purchase replacements at the local Home Depot. Since this is a European unit it comes with metric screws, and some modifications need to be made for SA since this is a European unit it comes with metric screws, and some modifications needed to be made for SAE threaded screws.

Perfect for laundry room and cheaper than others!
Just needed something cheap for our now 4 kids to put their shoes on in the laundry room as I'm tired of constantly having them laying all over the place and tripping on them. The slats are great for allowing the dirt to fall thru so it's easy to just sweep up the dirt under it, might get into other shoes but they haven't complained, and the insides of their shoes are probably dirty anyway. Came with two cracked/split boards on the seat but doesn't impair function or stability after a few months of use. It probably holds about 12-14 pairs of various kids sized shoes on the shelves.
