Almost all the pens are the clicky type. So far the ink has been black or blue. A few in the mix were pen\stylus combos. All are ball points. No gel pens. They write smoothly and we have haven't had trouble getting them started. The logos and printing on the side was just messed up. These were ordered for work. I am a Postal clerk and always need pens on my counter. They frequently walk away so I didn't want to spend too much. These were perfect.
