This shelving unit was slap-easy to put together, especially as this shelving employs a fairly common design. We have a pantry cabinet where we had a lot of unused space in the bottom, so we purchased this shelving unit to provide for evenly spaced shelves that take up the whole space. This is perfect for items like canned goods. Also useful is that the shelves have minor edges so cans don't slide off easily. It was nearly miraculous that the shelving fit perfectly into the space -- perhaps as if both my cabinet and this shelving unit had the same standard dimensions? But what made it work is that I pre-measured the space, and compared it to the dimensions reported for the shelving unit (which were very accurate), and when installing, all I had to do was move up a roll-out shelf one notch to accommodate this shelving unit. It looks fantastic, and like it naturally belongs in there! The instructions are very easy to follow, although one has to be careful with the plastic shelf adjusters to ensure they snap into place at a groove, and that as you lower the shelf onto the adjusters, you're careful that the shelf grips the adjuster tightly enough without damaging the adjusters. This is my way of saying that the plastic adjusters, while capable, are cheap plastic. But that doesn't mean they don't work -- just that you need to be careful. A saving grace is that a couple extra adjusters are supplied in case you crack/break one. All in all, this is definitely a 4 1/2 star purchase for me. If you are searching for inexpensive shelving, don't even bother looking at particle board shelves (the cheap ones from Target, IKEA, etc.)! These shelves look nicer and are sturdier. Right now I'm using these shelves next to my desk for video game consoles and my mail inbox. My parents have a larger version with wheels that they've used for years to store electronics/old TV. Pros: -Very easy to put together, took me less than 30 minutes. My shelves are pretty straight with little adjustment. Taking them apart looks simple, and if needed I can store them in a flat box. -Matches most decors, blends in. -Very sturdy (won't sag like particle board) -They seem durable so far. Once I upgrade my furniture I can see them being used in a closet or the garage (multipurpose!) -This size is lightweight, easy to move -Adjustable shelves -Space between wires is small enough that most small/thin objects should not slip through. -Feet are adjustable so if your floor isn't quite level you can make the shelves level. Cons: -I wouldn't call them "pretty." They are rather industrial-looking. But they do the job and they don't look ugly or cheap. -If you are using this as a bookshelf, you will need some bookends because there are no sides -There were some pieces in the box that were not listed in the instructions. They may be wider feet for carpets? I'm not sure what to do with them. -Depending on what you want to use these for, an extra shelf would be nice if you are only storing short items. If I need more shelving in the future, I'll definitely consider this brand (Whitmor) again. ... show more

We needed some extra storage for our large kitchen items since our townhome is pretty low on counter space. Our kitchen is pretty small to begin with so we needed something that was sturdy, but took up very little space. This is that item! However, it was not easy to get to that point. The directions are very unclear by telling you to put two poles together with a connector, but says the connector may or may not already be attached?? Also tells you to attach the feet, but those were already attached? It was just a hot mess basically and I didn’t even use the directions to put it together after reading all of that. The great little sleeves that snap together to hold the shelves? Yeah, no. They don’t even wrap around the pole entirely so I hope you can get them to stick and slide the shelf over them without using too much effort. Make sure you also line up the sleeves for each shelf so that after you strain to get them all on and attached, you don’t have to try and move the shelf up or down. I gave up and now I have a slightly uneven middle shelf but at this point IDC. I attached a picture of the sleeves so you can see what I’m talking about. Finally, I have it together and it actually doesn’t look bad. Unfortunately, I have almost 10 little round black things leftover and I have no idea what they are?? Not on the directions or anything like that so i hope they’re not important. Overall, it’s sturdy and great for small spaces. If you decide to buy this, I hope you have an easier time with it than I did. This is probably one of the worst things I’ve ever bought on amazon in terms of putting it together. I would return it, but after I spent all that time and energy putting it together, I’d rather just look at it and hate it for the rest of my life. ... show more

I initially bought this stand to use next to my TV as a way to hold various entertainment equipment (video game systems, audio receiver, etc.) as it has enough depth to support those things and also provides plenty of airflow around them so they don't overheat. It was easy to assemble and worked great for the electronics purpose! I later ended up going with a different setup for the TV so I repurposed this stand into a shoe rack in my small hall coat closet. It is the perfect size for a small coat closet. Longer coats can hang to the side of it still and smaller jackets and things hang above it without too much trouble. Overall this is a very nice and sturdy rack for many purposes. It could easily be used in a bedroom closet, in the kitchen, in a shop or garage, bathroom, etc. etc. If you need a small-ish rack for pretty much any purpose you should consider giving this one a try! ... show more

It was fairly easy to assemble though I really dislike the two-piece bracing items. They don't always close and/or keep closed. But, once assembled it is just perfect for my counter top. I live in a senior building and my small apartment has very little cupboards so I have three similar units like this one. Mostly they hold dishes and I bought some hooks to hang cups and utensils. I've been buying this type of shelving for a long time, anytime I need another shelf I usually end up getting this kind. I own about a dozen of this style in different sizes. Pros: Easy to clean Sturdy Look nice, simple metal Adjustable shelf height Can be assembled alone and fairly quickly Cons: Haven't lost any clips but it could happen Can be difficult to put together the first time ASSEMBLY: If you've never assembled one of these and don't know, you need to make sure the little black clips are right side up and place them just above the line you want them to be in, then slide them down until you feel a 'click'. Clips are only loosely on and may fall off, can put a dot of glue if needed (and I mean barely a dot, you want to be able to pop these off at some point I'm sure lol). Also only put clips on one shelf at a time, or you won't be able to get past the top, was a good laugh the first time I bought one. The easiest way is to put the poles in with the bottom shelf sort of on its side, stand it up, then life the bottom and put in clips on legs and work with it upright. I needed something to free up counter space in my small kitchen and this shelving unit was just the thing. It was delivered fast, well packaged and most importantly so easy to put together. I was able to fit it into a fairly small area off from my kitchen which was perfect. I just wish I had purchased two. The price was really good for this quality. It holds a lot of my kitchen appliances that were taking up all my counter space and the unit is adjustable so you can change the spacing of the three shelves to suit your needs.
