I’ve had these shoes for a year now and I think they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn!! I love them so much! They give my toes room to breathe. They look good, not too weird looking. The fit is true to size. ( I bought the black and white ones.) It’s been a year and they still are in great shape! No holes or too badly worn out sole areas. The ONLY thing I think could be improved with this shoe is the shoelaces that come with them. I always need to remember to double knot them because they easily come untied if not double knotted. I definitely will buy these again! I’m looking into getting a men’s pair of this brand for my husband now! ... show more

I tried 3 pairs of wide toe box shoes, I have trouble finding any because I have narrow feet. These are the best of three and actually look pretty good. I got the gray. There's enough of a sole that they're not like barefoot shoes, which a lot of the wide toe box sneakers are. They feel substantial, not cheap. I did add a Dr Scholl's arch support insole since there's more than enough room for my foot, a sock and the insole. They are true to size, I wear an 8.5 in running shoes but buy a 9 so my toes aren't mashed. These are a bit big, but I think smaller would be too small with a heavier sock. I like a good arch support and cushion/support, so these may not be what you're looking for in a barefoot type shoe, but I will use them mainly for travel so my feet aren't cramped into pointy toe running shoes for long periods of time. Update: I took these on a 2 week cold weather cruise, and have to say they're not as supportive as I would like, but few shoes are other than expensive ones. I was comfortable on long walks (I put a pair of Dr Scholl's arch support sports insoles in them, I tried my VA supplied inserts and they fit but were uncomfortable) and the wide toe box doesn't look weird like duck feet. Really like these shoes! They are very comfortable for my feet. They are relatively cute (just basic and plain) and lightweight. The wide toe box is perfect and the zero drop encourages my feet to become stronger as opposed to relying on the support of the shoes. The only thing that’s a little challenging is the sizing. I usually wear a 9.5 which is normally a 40. These shoes list a size 9 as 40 and I’d say they are right between a typical 9 and 9.5. I’d try a 10, but I’m afraid they’d be way too big. Wow! Is all I can say i am on my feet all day long, I needed a shoe to not squeeze my foot was light weignt bit still sturdy. I had such a hard time finding a shoe until I tried this shoe! Its ligbt weight and sole os study after 8 hours or more working this shoe didnt hirt my foot st all amd it was breathable. I like that these shoes are lightweight. They look ok except for the shoe laces. The blue pair do not look as nice because they are a bright blue rather than a navy color. That color doesn’t really go with anything. They do have a nice wide toe box without being a wide shoe which I really like. I replaced the insoles with mine for extra support. The shoes are reasonably comfortable. I had to have my big toe fused so finding comfortable shoes is difficult. These work pretty good but with one HUGE downside. The shoe laces are way too long plus they do not stay tied. I tie them in a knot & they still come untied. I have balance issues & although the shoes help with better balance they are actually a safety hazard because of the shoe laces. I do not recommend these shoes simply because of the shoe laces. ... show more

It’s early, I know, but I love these shoes! First of all, they are really nice looking. The maroon is a deep, rich color. I debated about getting the lilac pair but I’m glad I didn’t. Second, they feel terrific! I have been running exclusively in Altras since 2013 but haven’t loved them for the last four or five years. The issues I have with Altra are fit. The wide toe box has narrowed through the years, but the inner toe got longer. The long toe box has caused me to trip on a few occasions, while the narrow part across the width of my foot caused some numbness from a neuroma. Whitin seems to have rectified both of those issues by making the toe box very similar to how Altras used to fit. I have run three times in them, once for 5.5 miles and I road run. My feet felt great throughout. I couldn’t be happier with their performance so far. At $43, there is a bit of a trade off though. The vinyl along the laces looks sort of cheap and the foam bottom is a little harder and a bit noisier than my Altra Escalantes. I did, however, find a review online that said they tend to soften up over time. Also, I switched the insoles with my retired Escalantes for more cushion. The laces are really too long but I plan to buy elastic lock laces anyway so that’s a non-issue for me. In all, even if these shoes don’t go 400 miles like the Altras, I could buy three pair for the price of one pair of Altras, and I like the fit of Whitin far better. I hope this review will help other runners because I debated about getting them with so few specific running reviews. If you’re on the fence, and already run in zero drop Altras, I recommend giving them a try. ... show more

I suffer from extreme pain from plantar fasciitis. Bought all the "official plantar fasciitis shoes" that cost $150 on up. They all sit on my rack. Altras were the only ones that worked but that cost $159. Saw Whitin shoes, zero drop and the PRICE. Could such a low priced shoe really work?? Tried it and I'm floored by its quality, simplicity and comfort. It doesn't have any support insole built up like the main players but it surprisingly did not matter. It's lightweight, beautiful elegant design and pure comfort even for my aching feet at ONLY $50. Most mornings I can't even walk without limping in pain. When I put these on, it distributes my weight properly and lines my feet up and somehow that eases away the pain. Well ventilated, my feet feel dry and I can wear it all day. They are so comfy is sometimes forget to change into my outdoor Altras when I go for walks. For this price, I am getting more and buying some for my elderly mom who suffers from foot pain. This glowing review is not solicited from anyone. Just wanted to show how much this product helped my pain. No need to drop hundreds on shoes when this one does way better in every way. I wear a 9 to 9.5 Wide in Women's shoes, so that's what I ordered: 9.5 Wide. Nowhere in the description does it say what the European size is, which would have been helpful since I already know I wear a 40 EU in a different Whitin model. UPDATE: There is now a sizing chart in the middle of the product page, which gives foot lengths in inches/centimeters as well as size conversions for a better fit. When these arrived, I found they were a size 41, which is too big for me. This was a huge setback for me, since I've been desperately seeking shoes that will help my tarsal tunnel syndrome heal. Other than the length, these shoes were comfortable and offered more cushioning than the minimalist Whitins I already own (which I can no longer wear because of the tarsal tunnel syndrome, *not* caused by the Whitins). I love the wide toe box -- which was plenty roomy for my 2E-width female feet -- and they're attractive as well, which is hard to find in these types of shoes. I absolutely love Whitin shoes and am looking forward to the correct-sized ones to arrive. NOTE ON CUSHIONING: These are *not* the equivalent of the Men's Wide Toe Box Road Running Shoe that looks the same. I ordered both, and the Men's version has a much more cushiony sole. The sole on these is harder, has less spring, and makes a bit of "slap" noise when walking. The Men's version is quieter, more rubber-like on hardwood floors. Also, the Men's version is visibly wider and actually fits my 2E width foot better. (For reference, the ball of my foot measures 4" across -- the widest Women's version of this shoe is less than that in size 11.) Please note that there is not a lot of arch "support" in these shoes, but the insole is removable so you can put any insole or orthotic in that you wish. I'm so glad Whitin is NOT trying to be an orthopedist like so many shoe manufacturers! We all have different feet and different support needs, so having the option to switch out the insole is a huge plus. ... show more
