Starting with 5 stars based on delivery, packaging, and first try-on. Very lightweight and sturdy. Not a lot of cushioning on the inside but still surprisingly comfortable. Easy to put on and the shoe strings are nice and long. They are true to size and I really appreciate the cushioning around the back of the shoes supporting the ankles. The toe box is perfect and my foot is not being crushed on top because the tongue of the shoe actually cradles the top of my foot instead of stabbing it. I walked around my living room in these and I actually feel more flexible in my ankles which is what I was hoping for with anterior tendon issues when I run. I literally smiled and said “I think I might love these”. We’ll see! I’m hoping these will keep their 5 star rating when I take them on the track tomorrow morning. I’ll update y’all soon! Update: OMG! These made ALL the difference! Wtf??? I’ve spent soooo much money on other “popular” brands that killed my shins and tendons in my ankles (I thought I was just in bad form), but THESE!!! I just ran a mile in these on a paved track and NO PAIN IN MY ANKLES OR TENDONS!!!!! I’m in love with these!!!! If you strike more on your mid foot or ball of your foot when you run, these are definitely for you!!!! YESSSSS!!!!!

Y’all! I’ve tried so many barefoot shoe brands and am surprisingly very impressed with these!! I ordered the running ones (listed) and the canvas ones. The canvas is very flexible like most all of the barefoot, wide toe, zero drop shoes. These are not flexible when you point your toe but do flex well for pushing off the ground / toe flex up. I follow Anya’s Reviews and have tried Vivobarefoot (good for ppl with longer second toe, which I don’t have) Mukishoes (very flat, fun for frolicking in fields), Origo (super durable, nice quality), Flux, Xero, Lems, and Inov8. There are things I do like about all of them but my feet do get really tired after being on concrete all day. Which is frequent. I really like the Whitin running sneaker because it’s WIDE and zero drop but has some stack to the sole. Plus they are very cute! The design on the sole that looks like an arch in the shoe/foot is really nice and makes them look more like a normal shoe. Plus the price is way better than most other barefoot shoes. Yes, I understand why - but idc anymore. I care about my feet. 10/10 recommend to my fellow wide shoe barefoot people who might be looking for more cushion! I’d also recommend to not size up a half size like most running shoes. I’m an 8.5 and they fit great! I was swimming in the 9. I wear a 9 to 9.5 Wide in Women's shoes, so that's what I ordered: 9.5 Wide. Nowhere in the description does it say what the European size is, which would have been helpful since I already know I wear a 40 EU in a different Whitin model. UPDATE: There is now a sizing chart in the middle of the product page, which gives foot lengths in inches/centimeters as well as size conversions for a better fit. When these arrived, I found they were a size 41, which is too big for me. This was a huge setback for me, since I've been desperately seeking shoes that will help my tarsal tunnel syndrome heal. Other than the length, these shoes were comfortable and offered more cushioning than the minimalist Whitins I already own (which I can no longer wear because of the tarsal tunnel syndrome, *not* caused by the Whitins). I love the wide toe box -- which was plenty roomy for my 2E-width female feet -- and they're attractive as well, which is hard to find in these types of shoes. I absolutely love Whitin shoes and am looking forward to the correct-sized ones to arrive. NOTE ON CUSHIONING: These are *not* the equivalent of the Men's Wide Toe Box Road Running Shoe that looks the same. I ordered both, and the Men's version has a much more cushiony sole. The sole on these is harder, has less spring, and makes a bit of "slap" noise when walking. The Men's version is quieter, more rubber-like on hardwood floors. Also, the Men's version is visibly wider and actually fits my 2E width foot better. (For reference, the ball of my foot measures 4" across -- the widest Women's version of this shoe is less than that in size 11.) Please note that there is not a lot of arch "support" in these shoes, but the insole is removable so you can put any insole or orthotic in that you wish. I'm so glad Whitin is NOT trying to be an orthopedist like so many shoe manufacturers! We all have different feet and different support needs, so having the option to switch out the insole is a huge plus.

For the first time in years I walked without pain today. I had been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis but wasn't getting better. Then it was "no, it's metatarsalgia", oh probably arthritis, still no relief. I took a chance and purchased these. I went shopping and ran errands wearing these today and for the first time in several years, many doctor visits, a variety of different shoes and steroid injections, I finished my day without pain. What a joy! Well made, wide for real feet, comfortable and still look nice. Thanks Whitin!

These aren’t really wide enough to be considered a true barefoot shoe. I had to size up to get it to not pinch my toes. I don’t think it’s truly a zero drop sole either. The heels definitely feels thicker than the toe. It’s fine if I’m wearing them for a couple hours but if I wear them all day my feet ache horribly. They do look nice, more like a real tennis shoe but I don’t think the quality is great for how they make your feet feel.

The WHITIN Women's Wide Toe Box Road Running Shoe has been working out great for my job at a storage facility, where I’m on my feet most of the day. These shoes are incredibly comfortable, lightweight, and breathable. I can actually feel the air moving in and out of the shoes as I walk, which really helps reduce that “hot feet” feeling during long days in warm weather. I also LOVE the wide toe box! My toes finally have room to spread naturally instead of feeling cramped and compressed — and honestly, toes were not meant to be squeezed together all day. The material feels great, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how fresh the shoes stay even after wearing them all day in the heat. In fact, I actually checked for odor after a full day of work, and there really wasn’t any noticeable bad smell, which is impressive! Another thing I appreciate is that they are lightweight while still feeling durable. I’ve walked through dirt, sand, and even gotten them slightly wet at times. Impressed with the quality of the material - they dried very quickly after dabbing them off, which was another nice surprise. Overall, my experience with these shoes has been excellent so far, and I’m very happy with them.

It’s early, I know, but I love these shoes! First of all, they are really nice looking. The maroon is a deep, rich color. I debated about getting the lilac pair but I’m glad I didn’t. Second, they feel terrific! I have been running exclusively in Altras since 2013 but haven’t loved them for the last four or five years. The issues I have with Altra are fit. The wide toe box has narrowed through the years, but the inner toe got longer. The long toe box has caused me to trip on a few occasions, while the narrow part across the width of my foot caused some numbness from a neuroma. Whitin seems to have rectified both of those issues by making the toe box very similar to how Altras used to fit. I have run three times in them, once for 5.5 miles and I road run. My feet felt great throughout. I couldn’t be happier with their performance so far. At $43, there is a bit of a trade off though. The vinyl along the laces looks sort of cheap and the foam bottom is a little harder and a bit noisier than my Altra Escalantes. I did, however, find a review online that said they tend to soften up over time. Also, I switched the insoles with my retired Escalantes for more cushion. The laces are really too long but I plan to buy elastic lock laces anyway so that’s a non-issue for me. In all, even if these shoes don’t go 400 miles like the Altras, I could buy three pair for the price of one pair of Altras, and I like the fit of Whitin far better. I hope this review will help other runners because I debated about getting them with so few specific running reviews. If you’re on the fence, and already run in zero drop Altras, I recommend giving them a try.

One thing I wish Whiten and other shoe brands that make "wide toe box" shoes would get clear on: "wide toe boxes" are not just of benefit to people with "wide feet" who wear "wide shoe sizes". Those of us with medium/regular or other foot widths need shoes with wider toe boxes, too, but WITHOUT HAVING TO BUY SHOES IN "WIDE SHOE SIZES". HELLO!!! That said, I LOVE shoes with wide toe boxes. They fit your feet more anatomically, and after wearing them, a number of foot and ankle problems I was experiencing just vanished. I don't understand why the only thing we've had to choose from until recently are those awful shoes with pointy toes that cause so many foot problems. I also like the zero drop concept, but I'm not much of a fan of the barefoot concept. So I decided to try this style of shoe for everyday wear and just walking. This shoe style, though it supposedly is made in a medium width shoe size", still is made for pretty wide feet. I have medium width feet. So these shoes are VERY wide at the toe for me, but since the shoe fits well otherwise, I'll be keeping them. I inadvertently ordered a size larger than I intended, but now I'm glad I did. While this shoe has a thicker sole than the "barefoot" shoes, there still is not much cushioning for shock absorption or much in the way of arch support. Frankly I don't know how they can market this as a "running shoe". But once I added an insert with some heel cushioning and arch support, the shoe is much nicer to wear and walk in, and it conforms much better to the shape of my foot. I will probably buy another pair of these when they wear out. But seriously, I wish Whiten (and others) would also offer more of their "wide toe box" shoe styles in medium width shoe sizes.
