  • My 16-month experience and comaprison
Size: 10 Wide Color: W81 Black Gum
I bought this shoe in March 2023 and started hiking 10 miles per week with a 50 pound vest on forest trails. In addition, it was my daily casual shoe. The following items recount my experience. Further below I will note differences between last year's shoe and the new one. At first I was extremely pleased with the comfort! The flat rubber soles really let you fell the ground below. The forest trails are rough, with stones and twigs. Even walking on flat asphalt I noticed a profoundly different foot sensations. Even when I step on the brake pedal in the truck I can actually feel the pedal response. When I do that with work boots I can't feel the pedal at all and just rely on the speed response. Second, the wide toe box allows the toes to spread apart, especially when walking the forest trail. My feet conform to the trail rather than the shoe. I get a sense of better grip when walking as well as a heightened sense of control. Third, the shoes never fell apart until after a year's use, when I downgraded them to work shoes and really beat them up. Based on my experience with Allstar shoes I expected the Whiten shoe to eventually die from sole separation. That never happened. The canvass remained firmly glued to the sole - no crumbling or separation like the Allstars. It was only after 3 months of abuse that the canvass started wearing through, as shown in the photo. Fourth, these Whiten shoes have metal eyelets. I see a lot of other shoes with molded-in eyelets that fail by pulling out. I like the full metal eyelets because I pull on the laces really hard. The original laces when the entire distance. The new shoe has all the same fit and feel. The only difference is that the old shoe upper is canvass, whereas the new shoe appears to be a synthetic material. Same styling and real rubber soles. I'm back on the trail and will report next year as to the wear experience. ... show more

  • Where have these been all my life?
Size: 9 Wide Color: All Black
I was recently diagnosed with hypermobility and POTS. While searching for things to help with my joint pain that comes along with that, I saw a bunch of people in my shoes (pun intended) recommended trying out barefoot shoes. After reading reviews on different brands and styles, I decided on these. Just got them yesterday and am wearing them today for the first time...and WOW these are great! They hug my heels and bottom of my ankles so they're well supported and not sliding around when I walk. This is especially nice as with more traditional sneakers/tennis shoes in order to get the kind of support I need, I have to tie them super tight to the point of my feet falling asleep multiple times a day. So far, that's not an issue in these. I can wiggle and flex my toes without the bottom of my foot cramping like it does with more traditional tennis shoes or sneakers. Because of the flexibility and wide toe box, I don't feel like I need to break them in for them to be comfortable. They'll take some getting used to for sure, but I don't anticipate ever wanting to go back to other shoes. If anything changes or I have new things to add, I'll update. ... show more

  • Worth for the price
Size: 8 Wide Color: W81 Dark Grey
After extensively wearing the WHITIN Men's Wide Minimalist Barefoot Sneakers, I'm excited to share my experience with these stylish and comfortable shoes. As someone who appreciates both minimalist design and natural foot movement, these sneakers have truly impressed me. First and foremost, let's talk about comfort. The wide toe box provides ample space for optimal toe positioning, allowing my feet to spread naturally with each step. This feature has been a game-changer for me, especially considering how constrictive traditional shoes can feel in comparison. Additionally, the zero-drop sole promotes proper posture and balance, making every stride feel effortless and comfortable. I particularly appreciate the flexibility of the non-slip, abrasion-resistant rubber sole. It allows for extraordinary barefoot feeling and unrestricted movement, whether I'm navigating urban streets or venturing into the great outdoors. The minimalist casual style seamlessly complements various outfits, making these sneakers versatile enough for everyday wear, workouts, or casual outings. Another notable feature is the removable sockliner, which accommodates medical orthotics if needed. This versatility ensures that individuals with specific foot requirements can still enjoy the benefits of minimalist footwear without compromising on support or comfort. However, no product is without its drawbacks. One issue I've encountered is the sizing, which tends to run slightly larger than expected. I would recommend considering ordering half a size down for a snug fit, especially if you prefer a more secure feel. Additionally, lighter colors such as the light brown option may require more frequent cleaning and maintenance due to their tendency to show dirt more prominently. Despite these minor drawbacks, the sneakers offer an excellent entry into the world of barefoot shoes. Their wide toe box, flexible sole, and affordable price point make them an attractive option for anyone looking to prioritize foot health and natural movement. In conclusion, if you're seeking a comfortable and stylish footwear option that promotes natural foot movement and posture, look no further than these minimalist sneakers from WHITIN. Whether you're a seasoned minimalist shoe enthusiast or new to the concept, these sneakers are sure to elevate your footwear experience. ... show more
