Description

(What's The Story) Morning Glory?, the follow-up to the debut album Definitely Maybe, is Oasis' biggest-selling album with 22 million copies sold worldwide. It was recorded between May and June 1995 in Rockfield Studios, Monmouthshire, with Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher producing. Released on October 2nd 1995 it spent 10 weeks at No.1, is the 5th biggest-selling album in UK chart history and became the band's breakthrough album in the US where it sold 4 million copies. The new edition has been remastered from the original tapes by Ian Cooper at London's Metropolis Studios, supervised by the album's producer Owen Morris. A small army of contributors including original members of the inner circle who were involved in studio and live recordings came together to hunt down unheard demos and live material. The team also unearthed a wealth of never-seen-before photos and vintage memorabilia which will be included in the new artwork. (What's The Story) Morning Glory? is available on standard CD & digital download, Deluxe Edition 3CD & digital download, 12 vinyl LP (with digital download bundle of all bonus CD content) and a Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set. Highlights of the bonus content include: Previously unheard demos of She's Electric and Rockin Chair recorded at Mark Coyle's Manchester studio. Demos of Some Might Say, Hey Now, and Boneheads Bank Holiday recorded by Mark Coyle for the first time at the band's soundcheck at Club Quattro in Tokyo in September 1994 Live recordings from legendary gigs such as Knebworth House, Maine Road Stadium, Earls Court, and Bath Pavilion All of the Morning Glory singles acclaimed B-sides including Talk Tonight, Acquiesce, The Masterplan, and Underneath The Sky.

  • Kinda meandering
This album starts off rather good. Track#2, "Roll With It" is not really good, but it's not real bad either. Just kinda meh.. quite tolerable to say the very least. Track 8, "Cast No Shadow" is this dreary 5 minute slog. Track 9 is all the meandering of track #2 on steroids. "Wonderwall ", track 3 is an endearing bit of melody but I don't think the guys' vocals are a good fit for it. He sounds every bit as much of a brat trying to sing a nice pop song as he does singing the rest of the album. I actually prefer track#4 "Don't Look Back In Anger" which was also released as a single. Track 5 and 10 are hefty doses of energetic poppy guitar pop - rock. Although track 10 goes on a bit longer than it should. And then it closes with possibly one of the best songs of the 1990s. I don't remember much about tracks 6,7&8. Track11 is just a 30 second segue from track10&12. ... show more

  • The vinyl itself is almost perfect
First, the vinyl itself through disc one and starting disc two is nearly perfect. This pressing is "hot". Loud in co.parison to almost everything excepting few that arent known to be or MFSL. My example is also quite clean and clear. About the muddy comments others have left see the last paragraph. The only thing to note is there is a little lead in noise on disc 1 side one and disc 1 side two the lead it is AGGRESSIVELY sloped so, unless I am extremely careful with an already nice and slow cueing mechanism, starting side two will just slam the stylus mid initial riff. No drama at all on disc 2 side one... Now I happen to have original mastering, original pressing singles of Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, and She's Electric. All three see regular enough playback to where I am comfortable making some commentary on the remaster vs the originals. I can understand why one might think this pressing is muddy in comparison because the first think I thought hearing "Hello" and everything so far (ready to flip to play disc 2, side two) is that the moved the electric guitars along with the acoustic, and brought the bass forward some. I am not sure about the vocals. Seems to vary from track to track what was done... that's my initial assessment. Everything sounds well defined and clear but it is quite a different sound and a slightly different feel vs the original mastering on my vinyl singles and CD. I haven't a digital copy of the remaster yet so I can't directly a/b this album to the results through a Schiit Audio Yggdrasil DAC and the rest of the audio chain shared. Now that I have played through all four sides I think my brain has adjusted to the mix and I like it fine. I could even see it growing on me. I rate this as a No Brainer LP add if you are partial to the album and have a turntable Morning Glory sounds particularly good here ... show more
