  • Does what I need it to do
Style: 6600W Dual Fuel + Remote Start
I bought this generator to replace two other generators I had. Getting old takes a toll on RV campers. My old generators were pull start and didn't always start right away. Many pulls later I might get it started and have an aching back. My wife can't start it at all and wishes she could start it to run the microwave when I was away fishing. So having an electric start solved those problems. ADDING a remote start with that, means she doesn't even have to leave the RV to start it to run the AC or the microwave. At 64 dB the sound level is a bit higher than my old generator. My Honda 5000w pull start was around 56db. My 2000w generator was so quiet but couldn't run the microwave well. It was ok for charging the batteries running lights. I replaced it with 100w solar panels and batteries. Still, the solar charging system I have can't run the microwave or the AC when I want it. My plan is to mount it on a etrailer RV bumper shelf and there it will live during the summer season. It's too heavy for me and my wife to move at 135lbs. So I'm running it in for 5 hours with the AC at 2000w which is less than the max 2600 recommended for burn it in or <50% max rating. Changing it from AC to fan every 30 min or so to vary the load as recommended in the user manual. So far so good. I'm running it on propane with is what I'll like use most of the time cause I don't like having my fuel go bad or rust out the gas tank and plug up the fuel lines. I forgot to drain my gas last time I used the 5k generator and it made a mess in the tank and cost me $200 to repair it. Plugged the carburetor and all the fuel filters with rust. Had I sent it to the shop it would've cost me twice that. I was even using Stabilize to protect it but it was 2 years since I last used it. Next time I have to use gas I'll empty it like the owner manual recommends. It nice to have gas as an that option in a pinch. Other the the weight I'm happy with my choice. I was thinking of designing a portable lift or buying one of those motor cycle lifts to store it for the off season. Maybe I can start weight lifting... ;) or not! ... show more

  • Not that noisy and takes awhile to power your equipment
Style: 6600W Dual Fuel + Remote Start
Not as noisy as I thought it would be. A little less noisy than my lawn mower. I have it running on propane right now. All I'm going to use it for in case of power outages is to power my freezer and refrigerator. I had it on with nothing plugged into it for about a half and hour. I decided to try plugging in my freezer. It never even changed noise. it kept on purring away. I unplugged my freezer and plugged in my fridge and it conked out immediately. I finally let it run for awhile unloaded and tried it again and it stayed on but was struggling. Was struggling even after I unplugged the fridge. I finally had to turn the generator off and power it back on and it was smooth again........weird!! Let it run by itself a little longer and finally plugged both the freezer and fridge in and it stayed up running smooth. So for the impatient. Let it run for awhile before putting a load on it. I did buy a wheel kit separate for it. Trust me you need the wheel kit. It weighs 135 pounds. Still have to break it in a little more. trying to decide if I want to try it with gas or not. For now I'll stick with propane. ... show more

  • Great generator (but horrible shipping)
Style: 6600W Dual Fuel + Remote Start
Generator itself is great. Filled it with oil, hooked up the propane tank, connected the battery and the push button start worked on the first push. Ran it for a break-in period of a couple of hours, under various loads. I don't have any doubts that this will perform just fine when needed. But know that if you order this from Amazon, it is going to look like they dragged it behind the truck (or at the very least rolled it out the door while they drove past your house). Box was barely holding on, the generator frame was bent and scuffed on every side, and the exhaust heat shield was twisted somewhat. But everything works. Guess I'll just need to repaint it so it doesn't rust. Generator is heavy (135lbs), and this model (WGen5300DF) does not come with a wheel kit. Evidently you can buy one, but I just put it on an outdoor cart so I can wheel it around. ... show more

  • Great generator
Style: 6600W Dual Fuel + Remote Start
After about 15 mins of research and I chose this generator. Among my many trades one is a small engine mechanic, so I was weary of buying a non name brand generator, ie Honda, champion etc. I unboxed it this afternoon and hooked it directly to my spare propane tank, added oil and plugged the battery in and it was running right out of the box. The biggest downfall is the noise but even then I've heard much louder generators and we all know about Hondas lol. At about 150 lbs dry weight it's not bad to move around by yourself, but a second person makes light work of moving it anywhere. The owners manual contains a part breakdown for both the engine and generator units, all be it printed kinda small it is still clearly legible. While I haven't experimented with run times on propane vs gas, loaded and unloaded, I do plan on doing this in the future and plan to update this review with my findings. That being said the 4.6 gallon metal fuel tank will definately make the unit run for quite some time. The propane regulator is very easy to install and the unit has a very large selector switch for the pro or gas selection. Overall a great generator and it has a great price tag. Will update with any major changes. ... show more
