Arrived over a day early (thank you so much) and my 23 yo daughter and myself (51 yo woman) just turned one of the window ac units to fan FROM ac. Got chilly...only about 4 hours after delivery, set up and a run to buy gas and go to Home Depot where all of the multi outlet cords were gone :/ In Houston without power since Monday. MONDAY. I should've bought one sooner but was intimidated. Shouldn't have been. Seems very loud but it's my first one. May check out adding a propane one in case gas is hard to come by again...like earlier this week. Will come back if I have to whine or ask any questions okay? Previous commenters helped me go with this one. After a very hot 5.5 days, this costing around $400 feels like a steal. Currently running 2 window ac units and a power strip with 2 monitors, a gaming pc, and we're charging our devices off of it. Plan on adding a dorm size fridge when a capable cord comes in. Fingers crossed. We'll be ready with confident generator usage this hurricane season. AS LONG AS I CAN GET GAS! Picture is something the manual didn't mention in the starting instructions. A neighbor I asked to crank it up told me. This lever needs to be in this position to start. GOT IT? Good, very good. Edit: one tank lasted 14 hours running both window units and the power strip (plus internet). Checked the oil, all good. It was an easy gas refill, the auto start didn't work but pulled the handle once and it fired right up (like when the neighbor did it). So pleased, life isn't miserable now! ... show more

    • We Survived the 2026 Derecho With This!

We bought this generator last year after our old one died. Ran it once for half an hour after it was assembled to make sure everything worked, then I put it away & didn’t need it until the August 11, 2026 NW Indiana tornadoes. Rushed home after the storm to get the generator running. Took it out of the garage, put gas in it, opened the fuel valve, and it started right up on the first try. We then ran it almost continuously for 11 days, with no problems. Another bonus: it only used a tank and a half of fuel over a 24 hour period. I changed the oil after a week of use, although I don’t think I really needed to. We had 2 sump pumps, a refrigerator, a deep freezer, a fan, and at times various chargers and a lamp plugged in to it. This generator worked like a champ! So far, it has exceeded all expectations! ... show more

I bought this generator probably a year and a half ago. Power frequently goes out here. Battery start has been perfect. It’s has saved our food and our comfort many times since I bought it. We’ve probably had 5 outages 12 hours plus average. It’s not super quiet, but has been great on fuel consumption. It’s a bit heavy for one person, but just about any decent size generator would be.     • Overall well built but has a few drawbacks to me

Overall it's a good generator. There's a few nueance things that are a little frustrating with it but not deal breaking or things you can't work around. It was easy to assemble and the instructions are generally easy to understand if your mechanically inclined. It's easy to put the handles on the wrong sides or forget to put the loops on for the pins. But again easy to fix that with the handles being 1 bolt and a pin. I have the electric ignition one (it was somehow listed at the same price as the pull start only) and it has the pull start as a backup. I haven't used the pull start so I can't say how well that works as of yet. The ignition works like a dream. The only downside to me, and again this is strictly personal preference, is it's a rocker switch. I would personally like a push button. But it starts almost immediately as soon as you rock the switch down. There were 2 things that kept me from making this a 5 star review of the generator. The 1st being the fine threads on the oil dipstick no matter what, wants to try and cross thread or go in offset. And if it does DO NOT, and I can't stress this enough, keep trying to tighten it. It's a plastic dipstick, it will cross thread easily. Instead keep struggling to find it's perfect spot and it will line up. There's no way to see if there is any lines to line up unless your laying on the ground or floor of your shop. The only other option is to have someone else help you lift it onto a table. The 2nd thing is that holding the rocker switch to off on the panel will not shut it off. Instead you have to grab the rpm handles below that and pull it all the way to the left or reach around and turn the gas off. I'm assuming the off on the rocker panel is for the power out of the outlets. Which should have a switch obviously. But it should have an off switch to turn the motor itself off outside of using the shutoff or rpm control. The fail safes do appear to work. Running it full blast with just a battery charger will make it shut off with a fault, as it should since it's sending a ton of power into 1 outlet. The noise level isn't terrible, I've heard way louder generators in my time. If I had to compare it to anything it's around the same level as a push gas lawn mower. Maybe a few db lower than a mower. So if your just starting it up and leaving it run while your not near it then you'll be fine. If your on a job site working near it most of the time I would suggest ear protection just because of the prolonged sound. ... show more

This has to be the best value for a workhorse generator! And I mean workhorse! It spent all last summer being my power source, like it ran 24/7 for over 8 months straight, only getting breaks to change the oil, add oil, refill with gas, and clean the air filter. There are several models of this generator, some of them include the CO sensor, some are dual fuel capable, some have electric start and some are pull start only. This one is electric start with the CO sensor and only runs on gasoline. When I got it I was surprised to learn just how small this generator is compared to others with the same rough output. Set up was super easy and required only a few tools (which they included) to set it up, it comes with EXACTLY how much oil you need to break it in, the electric start works flawlessly, but for the first run I wanted to know how easy this would pull start and it started on the first pull! Just follow the instruction manual to a tee for maintenance and you will get a heck of a value for one killer generator! When the expected happened and I killed the motor burning it up in the Arizona heat at around the 6000 running hours mark, I called wen customer service to ask to purchase another motor since everything else about the generator worked just fine, and they did the unexpected! They pressured me into them sending me a whole new unit free of charge! They said it should last at least through the warranty period, and since it didn't they were sending me a new unit! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM WEN!!! Night and day customer service from Generac to WEN! This instills utter confidence in my purchase of a generator or really anything from this company. Also worthy of note, when changing the oil it requires EXACTLY 16.9 FL OZ of oil in the crankcase, so I was able to re-use some of my empty disposable drinking water bottles (after letting them dry of course) to measure out exactly how much oil it needed every oil change. Also the owners manual says to change the oil every 50 hours of runtime, but WEN customer service said to change it every 24 running hours, so I have been following those recommendations with the replacement unit and it seems to be lasting a lot longer than the first one, I'm also not using it as much anymore since I got my solar system active (3-4 hours 5ish days a week to top up the solar system batteries before I go to bed.) ... show more

Don't waste your money. It works but it's junk. Poor craftsmanship and vibration is terrible. Sounds like it's going to explode. Cheap Chinese crap. Spend your money on American made products. I regret my purchase but will live with it. Only use it if we have power loss. I had a Troy Bilt for over 20 years. It ran smooth and not nearly as noisy. However some horrible human being stole it out of my backyard after I forgot to put it back in the storage shed. I dont need it very often we have very few power outages here. But its nice to have tgat security. The electric starter is nice but if tgat fails there's no pull starter to bypass it. ... show more
