Good welding blanket - I really like the cutout to make it easy to position around a pipe. It has snaps to hold the blanket together after you place it over the pipe. The material is a bit thin for my liking - it doesn't seem very heavy duty. But I did use it for a project that required about 20 soldered joints close to a wall and the blanket did its job just fine - no damage to the wall at all. The blanket did smoke a bit the first few blasts with the torch, but then I guess the flammable bits burned off and it worked fine after that. After my project, I noticed the blanket started to tear a little bit at the hole. It can still be used just fine, and I only needed it for the project, but I wish it was a bit thicker and heavier duty feeling. ... show more

I ordered this as i am currently doing a bathroom renovation and needed to move the shower from one side of the bathroom to the other. i noticed that the contractor that originally remodeled the bathroom burnt the studs next tot he copper water lines. thats what i started searching and found this welding blanket. This blanket is small enough to store away in a tool box and is heat resistant. I ended up utilizing this blanket when soldering copper joints to install the new shower system. So far, no burnt of singed studs. makes me wonder why some contractors take shortcuts like this when the welding blanker is pretty affordable. Overall, if you are doing any plumbing dealing with solder, this is a good item to have in your tool box. ... show more
