I used one roll of the 6x300' of this, covered a 50'x30' fenced in section, with plenty left over. Thickness is good, and installation is easy, and the green line make it easy to keep track and stay straight during installation. You'll need to over lap at least about half foot between each roll, and keep about half foot extra on each end, because the sun will shrink this quite a bit, if you left it without any coverage over it. That being said, it's still a good quality product, because that's the character of this kind of material across the board. It's does allow water to go through relatively fast, if you have goo d drainage underneath it. They sure need to include more metal pins than the 20 pc that came with it. I ordered 100 pcs more metal pins to finish my project.

This weed barrier comes folded in half when shipped so you have to unfold it as you go. It is not absorbent and only slightly porous; taking a while for the water to seep through. It is great under rock, or for outdoor walkways and small patios. It will definitely choke out anything underneath it; and make it super easy to pull anything that might try to grow over it, as the roots will never reach the dirt beneath. It comes with metal pegs to hold it in place if you are cutting the barrier to place plants for a garden. If you use it for a garden, I recommend two things: 1. make sure the plant is in soil lower than the rest of the barrier, so water drains towards it. And, 2. make sure to get something to cover the barrier to weigh it down or it will fly off in windy weather and take your plants out with it.

We live in a high risk fire zone, so we are making a lot of landscape changes. We cleared out all of the shrubs from the most vulnerable side of the house - where the wood siding used to go all the way to ground level. We installed cement board in place of the crawl space siding. Now we are laying this weed barrier and covering it with river rock in place of the bark mulch that we had used previously. The fire marshall's recommendations are for non-flammable cover within 5' of the house, but since this roll came 6', we decided to just go with the full width. This weed barrier is plenty sturdy and thick, although it does not come quite to the 3.2 ounces per square yard that the seller claims. In fact they actually state that it weighs just under 35 pounds. If it was a full 3.2 ounces, the full roll should weigh 40 pounds. When we finally get to add plants back in, we'll just cut holes through the fabric and plant non-woody perennials through them. This stuff cuts easily and with roundish holes, there is not a lot of fraying to worry about. We'll be using drip irrigation and micro sprayers, so the water will have plenty of time to soak through the mesh rather than running off. At 100', we only used a little over half the roll to run the full length of that side of the house. At this price, that's a lot of piece of mind for the money.
