  • Three Years And Still Scraping
I bought my first one of these weber brushes in June of 2015. It is now Sept of 2018 and its still brushing my grills spotless. It has never lost a bristle yet. It has not rusted at all even being left outside on the table next to the grill in the rain for weeks. The stainless steel bristles are very stiff and really does a great job cleaning the grates. I love the 3 sided design of this brush. Works the best for cleaning stubborn spots in between each channel. I've used this brush on both round bar and channel shaped grates. It does a great job on both styles. I have used this brush on all 3 grate materials. Stainless steel , porcelain enamel , and cast iron and it works just fine on all three. The reason I have had the chance to use this brush on all the different Weber styles and materials of grates is, every summer I buy a few used Weber grills and rebuild them as a hobby. I sell them at my cost or give some away to people that cant afford to buy one. I saw some reviews claim that this brush scratches and chips porcelain enamel and damages cast iron. I find that is not true in my experience using on these finishes. The porcelain enamel grates , because they are made of 2 different materials , the steel frame and then the baked on porcelain tend to chip apart because the 2 materials have 2 different heat tolerances. Over time hairline cracks form under the porcelain coating from expansion and contraction of the steel it is stuck on. This is especially true on the porcelain channel grates where the porcelain finish is only on the top of the grate. All the edges chip right off. Once the hairline cracks form , and chips start to come off , condensation build up between the steel and the porcelain layers and starts to rust the steel. Dont blame the brush. What is happening is the brush is simply knocking off the already affected pieces. Cast iron grates do wear down using any style brush. Its the nature of the material. Every time you clean a cast iron grate you wear down a little of the cast iron because it is softer than the stainless steel. This will take a very long time to wear out a cast iron grate because they are so thick . But it will eventually happen. What I hate the most about cast iron is you have to constantly season the grate on both sides after cleaning it or it will rust. to me they are not worth the maintenance. When I buy a grill with cast iron grates , I usually throw them away and replace them with stainless steel grates. The only way to go is quality stainless steel grates. They never wear down from brushing them clean, not to mention they are easy to clean. Mine are 15 years old. Other than being discolored from the heat of 1000 barbecues , they are still as good as new. There is definitely a difference in quality of brushes. This Weber brush is one of them. Dont buy the cheapo junk ones that fall apart and shed bristles in no time and believe they are all like that. I have bought those too and thrown them away after just a few cleanings. I just bought 3 more of these to give away with my rebuilt grills. This is an excellent price for this quality brush. Sorry for such a long review. Happy Grilling Everyone ! ... show more

  • Fantastic Grill Brush
This is the best brush I've owned. I started with one of the Weber brushes that's wood, with the scraper on the end that kind of goes around the bars of the grill grate. It worked fine, but because of that scraper hitting the side of my kettle I could never get all the way to the edge. So the edges of my grate were always nasty. I then tried one of the tool wizard brushes. Long story, as I initially wanted to try a different, more high-end brand of the same type that Cooks Illustrated recommended. The guy wouldn't even sell me one as he didn't think it would perform optimally on my grill due to the grate not being flush with the top of the grill. He knows the Weber Kettle is like the most popular grill in the country, right? Anyway, I tried the cheaper Tool Wizard, and it worked well, but the steel wool wore out super fast. I tried reaching out to the other guy again to see if I could buy his superior pads at least, but he never responded. My next "brush" wasn't a brush at all, it was one of the "Grate Scrape" wooden paddles. That also worked reasonably well, and I liked that I didn't need to worry about bristles falling out, but it got pretty gross pretty quick and it never really seemed like it was getting them fully clean, as the square edge of the paddle didn't really fit with my round grill very well. That combined with the cost to replace and I finally retired it. This brush is the new pick from Cooks Illustrated, and I gave it a shot. It's got bristles, so watch out that they don't come lose, but it's made by Weber so you know it's quality, and at only 10 bucks it's easy to painless to replace every year or two if necessary. The shape of it and the flex allows me to hit all the rounded parts of my circular grill, no problem. I feel like it's years since it's been so clean. And I like that it's short; i just wear gloves so my hands don't burn and I get plenty of leverage. This brush is excellent, and I don't anticipate switching to anything else any time soon. I'll just replace this as necessary with the same thing, and call it a day. Get this, you won't regret it. ... show more

  • Gets the job done
This was a replacement brush. First one had a 12 inch handle. This one has only 6. Didn't notice the difference when I ordered. No big deal. Not worth returning and reordering.

  • A good brush for Weber grills
I had the Weber brush on the wood stick for the kettle grill. When I got my first gas grill with cast iron grids, that worked for the first few grillings but, was not designed for that layout. I searched for options and, the Weber brush seemed the cheapest and most obvious solution. It does work better than the old kettle brush. I kind of wish the handle was a bit longer. Also, no directions came with it. Specifically, WHEN do you clean? I know you have to blast full temp for 15 or so minute during grill heat up before cooking, so I clean after that but before putting food on. However, the grill is most gross AFTER grilling. So I blast full to carbonize then too and clean as heat can be turned off. So, it seems like post cooking makes most sense to avoid singed hairs and meat or vegetable bits not lingering for vermin to discover. ... show more

  • Worked Well While It Lasted
I bought this after reading the independent review picking this as a top grill cleaner. It works pretty well when I use it right after grilling. As others pointed out, the short handle means you either need to wear gloves or take a few breaks to keep from burning your hands. The bristles do a good job cleaning in between the grates when turned sideways. Min lasted just under a year. I don't feel like I push on it too hard, but last week I was cleaning the grill and the brush just broke off the handle. Luckily I wasn't pushing too hard, or my hand might have hit the grill. Despite it not lasting a complete year, I ordered another because I'm reasonably satisfied with it for the price, and we needed a new one quickly. While using the new one I'll be researching the next brush in case this one breaks again. ... show more
