It's wider than most, so there's room to move about, use a roller, stand and stretch, etc. and it's firm enough that you can do exercises lying on the mat and not feel the floor beneath you. It's got the feel of a mat from the gym, though the cover is slightly less heavy (then again, there's two of us using it, not a "gymful" of people, so that's not a problem). This is not lost its in my living room and it's great. It is pretty firm and about the size of a full size mattress in this size so you can use full size mattress accessories. This mat is used as a cushion for a disabled child to play on. Waterproof and super durable/resistant to dings and blows. Amazon says it was lost in shipping and I can get an entire refund but I like to pay for what I get and pay for the workers time and hard work. This mat is in my possession not lost. I bought this as a Christmas present for my 10 year old daughter, who's into gymnastics. I got the 4'x6'x2" size, purple and pink. She does tumbling on it, but mainly I got it to go under the 8' balance beam she got for Christmas. It slides right under the beam and just gives her a little extra cushion when she falls off the beam, or lands her moves. Good quality, good amount of cushion. I'll probably be buying another in the future. UPDATE 06.17.2017: I did by another mat (same size and color), for my daughter's birthday. She loves the fact that they velcro together so she can do longer tumbling passes than before. The one from Christmas still looks great after daily use for almost six months. ... show more

I wanted to get a reasonably priced mat for my 7 year old to use for the occasional tumbling practice in my basement. The floor is peel and stick laminate over concrete, so I wanted something to protect her from bumps and strain on her joints. So far this mat has surpassed my expectations. It's sturdy, yet forgiving and it comes with velcro edges so if I wanted to, I could buy another mat and join them together. For the price, I expected the May to be of higher quality and fir the covering over the foam to be tailored and sewn more tightly. I purchased acrobatic mats in the past, which were very well made and they lasted for 25+ years. I am sorry to report I am not happy with this product because I know the plastic will eventually loosen, get ripped or torn. I was not in the mood to return this big bulky item. Nicely made, but it was huge and pretty hard feeling. I expected something with more cushion feel. I was looking for something more soft and this may was like a massive tumbling pad for a gym.
