  • Not 12AWG, but not bad otherwise
Size: 50 Feet
This is the second set of "12AWG" speaker cables from this brand I have tried, and is unfortunately also the second set that is clearly not 12AWG. It is closer to 14AWG than 12AWG, and actually between 13 and 14 if the markings on the jacket are to be trusted. 12AWG cable should be about 3.3mm^2 in cross-sectional area. The jacket of these cables is printed with "2.5mm". 13AWG is about 2.6mm, and 14AWG is about 2.1mm. Because the jacket itself is printed with a different size than the listing, I will again assume it is a genuine listing error on the part of a seller who made a mistake. If you need the full current-handling capability of 12AWG, you'll need to look elsewhere. The jacket is better than I expected at this price. It is quite flexible, and the little bit of memory from being coiled in the package relaxed out in just a few minutes. The connectors are nothing like a genuine Neutrik, but seem a little more well made than others I have encountered in this 4-piece style. The total outer diameter of the jacket is a bit narrower than even some 14AWG cables, so we'll have to see how well the internal strain relief clamp will actually grip it over time. The connectors seem decently rugged, and mine didn't have any major plastic burrs or molding flash. The two electrically unused contacts are physically present, so it would be easy to modify these cables to be circuit-switching (Pair A to Pair B) for daisy-chaining stereo speakers or dual monitors where the first cable is 4-conductor and the daisy-chain is 2-conductor, or to be bridging (Positive on A+ and Negative on B+) for amplifiers that have a combined 4-conductor output jack but no dedicated bridged output. The connectors fit and lock securely in the equipment I tried. For light use - and treating them as 14AWG - I think these are a good value especially for the longer lengths. Even budget-tier big-brand cables can cost nearly twice as much, and there is certainly a market where these will be totally good enough. ... show more

  • Decent cables for price
Size: 25 Feet
Not 12AWG like everyone here has been attesting to, but the work fine. Cables and hardware seem to be pretty durable. We like the length and value. Hope they last a while!

  • Great speaker cables for longer runs.
Size: 50 Feet
I picked up another pair of JBL speakers with hopes of being able to run a second pair across longer distances in a venue. I am experimenting between 1/4” plugs and Speakon plugs to see which I prefer. These cables seem to be good quality. They are not the thickest I’ve used but they seem to be an acceptable gauge wire. They measure 7.33mm in my calipers. The jacket is more of a vinyl feel than a rubber feel. I would say they are slightly less durable than some of the thicker, rubber texture cables I’ve used in the past. If you run them into or against something, you will see the indention and scar in the jacket. I don’t push my gear too hard so I can’t speak to how well these will perform if you drive some high power audio through them. The plugs seem fairly heavy-duty and they are serviceable if you need to do a repair. There is good tension relief where the cable meets the plug. I think these things can take some abuse as they travel from gig to gig. I tried to bend them and stress them, especially around the plug. I didn’t notice any signal loss or other failures. There was no more static or noise with these cables than any of the others I’ve used between my amp and speakers. ... show more

  • Brittle housing with noxious fumes
Size: 25 Feet
This cable seems to be about the right length, and it seems to work for now. These cables seem to be more cheaply made than advertised. Instead of a freely bending rubberized housing, these cables are using a slightly hard plastic that gave off strong fumes when the package was first opened. It remains to be seen how flexible they remain as the plasticizers evaporate. The Speakon connectors are cheaper and not as easy to assemble as genuine Neutrik Speakon connectors—when they came they were loosely assembled—and the cable is narrower than 12 gauge. ... show more

  • Gauge Is Lacking But Cables Worked At Gig Despite Concerns
Size: 50 Feet
The gauge of the cable's wire is woefully lacking. In my own experience, this fact led me to reorder a shorter cable for my application. If you consider that the gauge is more like 14, these cables are serviceable. We used them last night on a gig without a backup, considering that if one were to fail, we could just strip it down to bare wire and use it that way. It didn't fail however, and all went well. The connectors twist and lock smoothly. The covering is flexible and durable. The very average quality & subpar gauge means this is not a good value for the price. ... show more

  • Great speaker or DC power cables!
Size: 50 Feet
The cables look great and check out fine under load. The connectors are super nice and can be disassembled. This is important to me when I buy cables, because I sometimes have to repair cables and reuse connectors. Also, the terminations are well done. However, I have to dock a star for one critical reason: The conductors are not 12AWG as described in the headline. According to the printing on the cable, and inspection of the actual copper conductor, it is 2.5mm. This corresponds to an AWG size of 14 gauge. This is a major problem in integrity of representation. Seller, please fix this, and you will have a 5-star item! ... show more

  • Decent!
Size: 50 Feet
These cables are built pretty well. They get the job done! The only reason for 4 stars is the wire size. The wire looks to be more like 14ga not 12ga like advertised.

  • Useable Product for ShortRruns
Size: 25 Feet
As just about everyone has pointed out the product does not match the gauge that was advertised, but at this shorter length I'm not sure that the difference is audible. At 25 feet they are too short for our FOH cabinets so we used these for monitor runs or paralleling pairs of monitors where they work just fine. Speakons are great in this function because of their hearty strain relief built into the connectors thus eliminating embarrassing accidents. The outer sheath is tough and durable. You can never have too many of these cables in your inventory. ... show more
