You really can't go wrong with this tail bag; however, there are a couple of things to be aware of. Although it holds its shape pretty well, the expansion feature is not utilized by your typical zipper release, this bag expands by easing tension on compression straps. The mounting straps should be a little beefier and are conjoined in an H pattern, I cut them apart to have increased mounting options, it would also be easy enough to replace them with straps available here on Amazon for less than $10.00. The included backpack straps are decent enough for occasional use and are made out of vinyl coated webbing with a fabric border. You really aren't going to find a better built bag at this price, look around on Amazon as different sellers have it at various prices, don't be confused by the bag that looks like it, which does not have the criss cross bungee cord in top. ... show more

Just installed on my Versys X-300. I would give it 3.5 stars, but thats not an option. Good things: Expandable Lots of straps for attaching onto motorcycle. Quality seems equivalent to the price. Came with rain cover. Bad things: Cannot fit a full face helmet. Those that say it can, must be using a kid sized full face. It is about 3" too short, even fully expanded. I have a TW200 that's been set up as a mini-adventure-bike.. One of the most important accessories is a reliable tail bag to store some extras / necessities.. I wanted something simplistic, rugged 'enough', and that wasn't going to break the bank.. This Bag checked off all of those boxes. It has room for drinks, tools, 1st aid kit, action cameras, auxiliary power banks, cables, etc. I keep it in it's compressed form. If/when expanded, there's much more capacity, and much more could be added. Going into the winter, it would be great to stash more backup cold riding gear. As far as craftsmanship / design / usability, the one I got is perfect. After a few months of use, it isn't showing any signs of wear, and functions as well as it did when brand new. Mine is mounted to the bike 24/7 but the bike hides under a cover while outside.. That said, I can't vouch for just how 'waterproof' these bags are.. I will say.. I've slammed some deep puddles, creeks, and have been caught in the rain for short time frames, and so far, I haven't had any water related issues. Being that the zippers are 'built to a price-point', they're not going to be waterproof.. Actual waterproof zippers - like YKK - are made with better materials, moisture resistant tapes, etc. So, even if this bag's material holds up to water, the zippers will be the weakest link. Time will tell. Locking - The two zipper tabs have a small hole in each one to allow them to be secured together.. The smaller the lock, the better they'll stay close/closed for anti tampering/theft issues.. I just use a small FAA approved 'luggage cable lock', and run the cable through them both. While that still allows the zippers to spread apart an inch or so, it's good enough for now.. [Those 3 dial combination cable locks are cheap and pretty nice too] There's also a strap towards the back that once the lock is secured, it can be stuffed in between the strap and the bag so that it's not visible or dangling/flopping around. Another convenient plus. Cons? Well, I can't say that I've really found any yet.. For a 'universal' setup, it really did work great on my bike and rack [ManRack rear rack] *Photo included to show a profile of the bike with the bag on the back* Would I buy another one? Absolutely!     • Awesome bag for the money!
I used this bag when traveled roughly 1800 miles and for less than $40 it really offers quite a bit of extra space! I had it strapped to the back seat of my 2018 Indian scout and it fit perfect. It’s also very convenient that it can be strapped to the seat or used as a backpack. Even when I had it filled to it’s capacity, the zippers seemed to hold up. I did hit rain a few times and even without the rain proof bag, none of my stuff seemed to be wet. Overall for the price, it’s a really great bag to have. ... show more

    • WARNING! Does not Last
I have had this bag for 10 months. Its been on the back of my XT225. My bike lives about half its life in the garage and half outside. Always inside when it rains. I have put about 2K miles on my bike since I added this bag to the back. I love the size, shape, everything about this bag. The problem is about 2 months ago one zipper pull stopped closing the zipper, and now the second one has stopped so I can't close this bag anymore. Was great when new, Will not last if used. I use it alot as its my only storage on my Dual Sport. ... show more

This is a nice bag. Easy to move off and on motorcycle. I was pleasantly surprised to find 3 inside tight pockets, 1 inside zipper pocket, and one outside Velcro pocket. Will easily fit a full-faced adult helmet (with a little bit of wiggle room). Have not tried it in the rain yet, but the inside is lined with water resistant material, and there is the waterproof cover, so I believe it should hold up well. ... show more

    • This is a strap on that can be complicated
Very nice tail bag but not water proof. Must be kept out of the sun or will fade to an ugly tent like condition. Unless you find a way to bolt it to your bike don't carry to much weight in it or it will slip out of place. Over all it was worth the price and works very well for a dual sport motorcycle. ... show more
