Needed an over the shoulder bag to act as a lightweight briefcase for transporting work items (mostly folders with occasional books), but didn't want a full backpack. This bag is working very well. It's big enough for folders and textbooks (even my laptop) with room to spare. The interior pockets are great for pens, whiteboard markers, a snack bar, etc. and the outside zipper pocket is a bonus. I don't use the shoe compartments. The mesh pouches on the side too small for a large water bottle, but hold an umbrella perfectly. I usually carry the bag over one shoulder but, if carrying books, I sometimes use both straps like a backpack. Even though the straps aren't padded, they are reasonably comfortable. Would definitely be fine if carrying lighter weight items. The drawstring closure is fairly tight given the width of the straps. There is also a loop for hanging. The entire bag is lined. The fabric seems sturdy and shows no sign of wear after 8 weeks of daily use. It states that it is water resistant, but I gave it an extra spray of waterproofing just to be safe. Have carried it in light rain and everything has stayed dry. Overall, it's a much better bag than I expected and suits my needs well. It would be good for travel as a carry on or day pack. And no, I did not receive any form of compensation for this review. It's just a good bag.

UPDATE AFTER A YEAR: So I'm still using this daily for work and it's been holding up great. I haven't had any problems with it at all and it's still looking newt. Only a little bit of thread is coming loose on the inside of where the straps tighten up where you can't really see. But it still closes up tightly without issue. I've been liking the quick access small pocket on the side where you can grab smaller items without taking off the backpack. The overall size has really been great at stuffing bigger items when I need to buy stuff after work. It fits items that are wide with ease like frozen pizza. If anything ever rips or falls apart I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is awesome quality "drawstring" backpack. It's not like the usual ones which are pretty thin. The material quality is super solid and thickness is like a real backpack. The straps are wide, not as wide as a regular backpack, but more than enough for it to be comfortable. Like I said, the quality is super good. This can take a beating for daily use and you don't have to worry about it tearing or falling apart. Nice roomy zippered pocket on the outside and two mesh pockets on the side for bottles of water or umbrella. The inside has three pockets, one larger zippered one and two medium sized unzippered ones. The side has another large zippered compartment where you can store large items like shoes and keep it separated from the main compartment belongings. Highly recommended.

I, like many other guys my age, am trying to out run father time. I am local discount gym 4-5 day a week doing cardio, and need a bag to carry change of clothes, toiletres, and and gyme. I bought this to replace another drawstring bag which had just become warn out over time. I like the material the size, easily big enough for my clothes, my lock, bluetooth head set, and shoes in the main chamber. The zip-pocket at the back of the main chamber is easily for a few odds ie asthma enhaler, lock, earpuds, and wallet. There are a couple side pockets in the main chamber outside of the main chamber, included but not limited to the front zip pocket, and side zip- pocket which is big enough to easily slip my cell phone in and out of. Plus there is the loop to hng it from hook in a locker. The material seems durable, with a reinforced bottem. At first I was neutral on the silcon shoe lace holder, than I realized I could use as a place put the latch for solar charger when i go to the beach. The main chamber is easlily to store my clothes and shoes. Yes there is a dedicated 'shoe pocket' definately large enough for a pair of shoes, but I do not think neccesary, thus I am neutral on it. Some people need it; some people don't I wish the inside of the bag was double stitched creating even more durablility. I also which the bag more reflective qualies to it, ie a reflective strive or reflicteve lettering of a logo. These things are why wish for in my ideal drawstring bag. Having got just got it is four star out of five.

Wow this is gorgeous, very generously sized, and made of incredibly high quality. As soon as I saw it, I gave it to my husband and bought a second one for myself. The one advertised as a gray gradient is notably purple in real life, but genuinely gorgeous. We're going to use these as beach bags on a cruise, and I was able to fit a snorkle face mask, full-sized beach towel, change of clothes, water shoes, and a full-sized pool noodle rolled up into a tight coil, with a bit of room left over and all the pockets avaailable for phones, money, sunglasses, etc. I highly recommend this bag!!!

Bought this for my daughter to use during passing periods at school. I was totally expecting to have to purchase a replacement by now but we're half way through the year and this bag is still holding on strong. The size is perfect to carry everything she needs for all her classes. The quality and thickness of the bag really helps with daily wear and tear and you can't go wrong with the price.
