    • Awesome for GENTLE massaging
I recently had surgery which included (among other things) an abdominoplasty with recti diastasis repair. At my two week check up and drain removal I was advised to start massaging the scar in particular and the abdominal region in general to help both soften the scar and assist with dispersing any fluid build up since your lymph system is disrupted with this type of surgery. I had watched a you tube video in which a woman who had the same surgery had been using this exact massager on her surgeon's advice and checked on Amazon to see if it was available. Found it in under 30 seconds and have been using it for about a week. Oh my gosh, for my purpose, this is amazing! Yes, it's a little loud with the buzzing. No, it's not very powerful. However, for gently massaging my scar and ab area, it is incredible! We own a dual head percussive massager we bought years ago for about $100 which works great for deeply massaging away back pain and loosening tight muscles. Using that would have felt like I was being punched over and over and actually would be harmful to me at this point. If you need actual deep tissue massaging, spend more money for something like that because this little massager won't help you. I use the flat head attachment for about 10 minutes 5-6 times a day and I can actually tell a difference in both the reduced swelling and the relief I feel. The gentle buzzing helps increase blood circulation to the area which is needed for healing and it also helps massage in my scar cream. I can honestly say that I don't believe I'll use the other attachments, or even this particular massager, after I'm entirely healed. But for less than $23.00, and what I use it for, this has been a god-send! ... show more

    • Power lacking in this Wahl Massager
I tried a WAHL massager at my friend's house. I am suffering with tennis elbow AND a torn rotator cuff. I'm a physician and have a lot of experience with medical treatments and devices. I've had multiple massagers, but never one as powerful as my friend's. She gave me the info so I could order it, and waiting in pain, I open the box with joy. But inside the box, I found this SMALLER, WAY LESS POWERFUL, version of the Wahl top of the line massagers in the box. It's okay, but my friend realized that she had TWO and i had seen the OTHER one. So I went right back and bought the BIG one, the Wahl 4290-300. It does NOT have the ice attachment, which is a very nice feature, but it is the JACKHAMMER i really needed for deep tissue massage. A jacuzzi jet is also amazing therapy, but too inconvenient to go off to the tub et al. multiple times a day. Either get BOTH, or get ONLY the Wahl 4290-300. This one is way too wimpy for serious therapy. ... show more

    • Not Worth Your Time or Money
If you are looking for a Therapy Massager don't buy this one. Not only is it heavy and ergonomically awkward, it is loud. There is no difference in its efficiency when on the low or high setting. The attachments are not easy to put on and they are too small to do much of anything. I purchased this to help break up scar tissue from years of Plantar Fasciitis but it is no stronger than a weak vibrator. I had a Wahl Jumbo Massager for 33 years and it just died so I thought I would purchase another Wahl product. Big mistake. While I wouldn't expect it to be as heavy duty and efficient as my old one, I at least thought it would live up to its advertisement. It didn't. Please don't waste your money unless you are looking for a "light duty vibrator". This thing is pretty useless. ... show more

I specifically got this for facial massage and I love it. For my taste, the massagers specifically made for the face fall WAY short on power, but on the other side of the coin I can't take a giant "thumper" massager to my face either (yes, I tried lol) so this is the perfect medium. I only use the three attatchemts in the photo, gel, nubs, and cup, so I can't speak to the others. I clean, tone and moisturize my face then and put a thin layer of oil (hemp doesn't clog my pores and remains slick, I also use it for body cupping) on my skin before use so the heads glide with minimal resistance and dragging. Once treatment is complete I then clean, tone and moisturize again (I use very gentle products and have fairly resiliant skin so this works for me). The nub attatchmet is stiff enough I can't use it on the bony top half of my forehead and because of the shape it doesn't fit the eye countors of my face. Also it's pretty agressive and not all together comfortable on may face when my skin hasn't been warmed up first. In comes the magical gel head, I don't freeze it, on the contrary I set it gel side down in a shallow dish (so I don't run the risk of flooding it and mold subsequently growing) of hot tap water to warm it up before use. It conforms perfectly to all of my contours and is amazingly gently. I use it all over my face to warm it up and get the areas the nub head can't be used. Once I'm satisfied I then switch out the head for the nubs and go to town until my skin is tingling/numb and rosey red. Perfection! It's so relaxing having all the tension massaged out or my face, and it removes ALL of my puffyness! Which is a total bonus because I mainly got this for helping my acne... over the past year I discovered, accidentally, that stagnation is the mortal enemy of my skin, and the more manual circulation it gets the better off it is. I've tried many different things, techniques and products, both manual and electric to increase circulation and this Wahl is the best by far, without being too aggressive (unsuitable for daily use) or too wimpy (taking forever to get good culation going). In addition the price point for this application can't be beat! (Anything marketed for the face seems to be exsorbabanly more expensive regardless of what it is or how it's made). Ok, now for the cons... It's loud, not the vibration, but there's something in it that rattles, super annoying cuz I like to watch TV while I massage my face. For it's size and strength, it's a little on the heavy side. The "variable" speed is a joke, there is only a VERY slight difference between it's highest and lowest setting. And finally, not returnable, I understand why a "small personal massager" wouldn't be returnable for hygienic reasons but it's still a downside for those of us not planning on using it on our naughty bits. If you've been looking for a more gentle massager for wound healing, painful joints, face, ect this is awesome for the price point and I highly recommend it! If your looking to do some therapeutic deep tissue work look elsewhere it's not powerful enough. I hope this review was helpful, toodles! ... show more
