  • 98 Jeep Cherokee with Chrysler 8.25 rear axle
These work perfect with my 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ with a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle. I'll be honest, drum brakes aren't easy especially if you've never done them before. There's quit a few moving parts and springs that have to go together just right to make the whole brake assembly work correctly. If you have good basic mechanical skills and tools, you can do it in a few hours. Someone to assist you would be beneficial but it can be done by yourself. First make sure to watch YouTube videos on how to replace drum brakes and also take pictures of the brakes at every angle before disassembling them so you know how to put it back together. I also suggest getting a brake drum kit ($20-30) to replace all the stock springs and parts since they are most likely rusty or broken. Before you put your wheels back on, test each side with the drum on to make sure the brakes are working properly. Also make sure the brakes are set correctly apart with the bottom "click adjuster". YouTube videos should explain that more in detail. They've been installed for a couple weeks and seem to be working fine with no noise. Thinking about doing a disc brake conversion but that's another story/project lol. ... show more
