Let me start out by saying that this is my first review I ever wrote. It's just that the quality of the edges were SO BAD that I had to say something. I read the other reviews before buying, but I've used other VViViD vinyl before and thought "how bad can it be? I'm sure it's an over exaggeration". Boy was I wrong. The roll appears to be cut with a saw of some sort. The edges were so bad, it made the roll totally unusable for what I bought it for. (See the pictures!) It's a shame because the vinyl itself is very good. I ended up trimming it down by hand and using it for a different application. If VViViD is going to stay in the business of vinyl tape, they should invest in the equipment to make a quality product. Guess I'll end up buying again from a different vendor to finish the original job.

The glue or adhesive used is not as strong as other brands I have used. On HDPE,LDPE, and some other grades of hard & malleable plastics it doesn't stick. The surfaces were cleaned of dust, dirt, debris, oils, solvents & moisture that would contaminate surface & prevent bonding. I even tried using 800 grit sandpaper to abrade the surface after cleaning then recleaning to remove any leftover residue after sanding. That didn't work either. Duck tape, clear packing tape & masking tape all had better adhesion qualities but lack the strength & UV characteristics needed. I have not used or attempted to test its use on any steel, stainless steel, aluminum products nor wood, cardboard or any ceramic materials and do not plan too. On what should have been a one hour job my frustration evel turned into nine & one half hrs of disappointment in wasting the cost of the tape. So as far I am concerned its junk. I will say it did sick to a painted painted surface such as a painted auto body part but it's just not a practical application. So to summarize, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy product for any project because it's worthless as a tape. It gets one star only because I have to give it one to submit the comments.

Installed this as part of my partial hood wrap. Installed easily and looked great when I first installed it, but even though it's supposed to last 5-7 years "without fading," mine started to fade after 2 weeks of being installed on my hood. I used 3M knifeless tape to make the butt joint here, and I'm likely going to have to completely re-do the vinyl wrap on my hood to fix the red stripe. Either that, or live with pastel pink stripes..

Bought this to protect paint on the areas of a bicycle frame prone to damage. It is not super sticky, which makes it easy to install. I did prep the areas first with rubbing alcohol, used a hair dryer to warm the frame, and then used the hair dryer while smoothing the tape after installation. The frame is a matte carbon black color, this tape is almost invisible on the frame. I did not have the issue mentioned by others concerning rough edges on the tape where it was cut from a larger roll.

What in gods name is the quality control. For something that’s designed to wrap trim pieces. See photo. I even tried heat gun to stretch the texture out it did nothing. 1st pic is on the back of the tape, 2nd pic shows what it looks like wrapped on a chrome trim near the trunk. Don’t waste your time and money here please.

Instructions with the product would have been extremely helpful. Product was delivered in good shape, no edge issues as other reviews noted, looks good. But without "MANUFACTURER" directions, one is left to rely on suggestions left by others in the review and/or YouTube videos. Even then, you're left wondering how to deal with curves in the trim as recommended by the MANUFACTURER? What are the limits of bending as recommended by the MANUFACTURER? Should I apply hair dryer OR heat gun heat as recommended by the MANUFACTURER? Does the heat need to be applied as soon as installed or can it be done at a later date as recommended by the MANUFACTURER? In hindsight, I applied heat after the job was done and it seemed like the adhesive evaporated from the edges after a few days, before I decided to apply heat and so the edges are not sticking, probably should have expected it, but installation instructions from the MANUFACTURER would have given these guidelines. No offense to anyone leaving instructions in their reviews or to the YouTubers, but sometimes these recommendations can be as different as night and day, so instructions from the MANUFACTURER would clear things up. Now I am stuck with a project that looks good from afar but that doesn't look so great up close with the peeling edges, cuts at the bends and I'm afraid to peel it off out of fear that I'll end up with a sticky mess, all things that could have been avoided with MANUFACTURERS instructions. If I was to try this again, I'd go with the wider tape so I would have no cuts/stretches at the curves.

Im so glad to have found this before I found this I use to use electrical tape to do some small dechroming areas. But it just never looked right then I tried the plasti dip but that stuff takes too much time and makes a mess so I stumbled upon this. And it was like I hit the jackpot. I had been wanting this tripe of material for a while but it was just to expensive to buy thin strips at the time. I layed this on in the middle of summer and so far it’s stayed in place like the day I put it on. This week it snowed a couple times and it held up perfectly with no issues I just need to remember it’s there and not hit it with the snow scraper.

Unlike 3M tape, the gloss does not have a protective film on the tape. The simple process of installing the tape will leave small swirl marks which is unacceptable to me. If it gets marred just doing this, what is going to happen when it is exposed to the elements? I installed 3M tape on some window belt mouldings last year, but unfortunately the mouldings were damaged in a hail storm. The year old tape that went through a hail storm still looked better than this tape just installed. I also had some issues with edges holding - heating did help but it was not perfect, which is what I want when installing on a car. I would not recommend.
