VPH Travel Chinese Mahjong Set Ivory 144 Sheets with Rattan Box and Tablecloth (Light Blue). This is a very nice Mahjong set and I love the pretty blue color of the tiles. The thickness and printing on the tiles is excellent, too. My only complaint is that I am not a huge fan of the rattan storage design. It reminds me too much of wicker, which I worry will not hold up over time and use. It is also decidedly feminine in appearance, limiting the giftability of the game set. I will say that the game pieces all fit nicely into the container with room to spare, so you could probably store other mahjong accessories, if you decided. I think the price is a little high, but mahjong sets do tend to be an investment, so I think you will get your value!

I brought this mahjong set with me on a cruise recently, and enjoyed it tremendously. I have a regular size mahjong set at home, and it didn't take long to adapt to the smaller size for this one. This travel set has good quality, but some of the tiles did have slight discoloration so someone who has played with the set for a long time may be able to recognize certain tiles just looking at the back and hence be able to cheat, but honestly it's not that bad. For the price of the set, I'm not going to complain about the quality. Also, I like that it comes with a nice travel case and the felt mat. Without the felt mat, it would be very hard to keep the noise down and putting down the tiles.

I love this set! I enjoy playing Mahjong and have always wanted an actual set. The color of the pieces is very cute. They feel quality made. The dice are TINY. My goodness are they tiny. Keep an eye on them, as you may lose them with a careless roll. Storage fits everything just fine once outside the package. Lots of glue strings, or some kind of string anyway, that I noticed in the case. I didn't come with instructions, though. Not sure what it is with some of the products I've been getting lately, but a lot of things aren't coming with instructions anymore, which can be frustrating. I just went online and printed off instructions to put with the game in case I ever get rid of it.

The symbols on the Mahjong pieces are very clear and vibrant which made them perfect for my grandparents to read. They are decently bigger pieces too so they were easier to play with. The carrying case made it convenient to pack up when their gaming sessions were over, so this game set is very easy to pick up and play.

I’ve only ever played “Mahjong” online—which, as I’ve since learned, has very little to do with actual Mahjong. But after watching groups gathered around coffee shop tables, laughing and slapping tiles with serious intent, I decided it was time to try the real thing. This set is absolutely adorable. The rattan basket is compact enough to tuck on a shelf but roomy enough to hold all 144 ivory-style tiles and a soft tablecloth. My tiles are a baby blue with beautifully etched designs—delicate, colorful, and cheerful to handle. The whole presentation feels both charming and substantial. The only drawback? No instructions are included. Not a dealbreaker—plenty are available online—but it would’ve been nice to have a little booklet tucked in with the tiles, especially for beginners like me.

The tiles are solid in a light blue color; the set comes with a basket for carrying, a small play mat, two dice and the tiles. It is a nice travel set, though a bit pricey. The characters and markings are bright and clear, but for a beginner like me the tiles lack the Arabic numerals (especially the character suit) that would be helpful when creating a chow; I would probably been better off with an American set. The set, also, lacks a set of instructions, but that might be a good thing as there are numerous sites online with well thought out instructions.

This is the cutest little travel set! The size is perfect. Not too small. The basket case is strong and sturdy with a leather/metal turn latch. It’s generously sized so that everything fits easily. The mat is a little thin, but I guess it needs to be to fit. The tiles are cute, engraved and painted. Well made. Will be great to take with me on trips so I don’t miss being able to play.
