I love how light and Affordable this wheel is. I also love that is has two directions of rotations. However the slow speed is not quite slow enough. It would also benefit them to put pegs on the aluminum wheel and sell some plastic discs for the top. In order to make transitioning between pieces a little easier. While the product works satisfactorily, it is definitely not a professional quality wheel. I was set to buy a $600 wheel but the well known company is having trouble fullfilling the orders and I wanted it right away, so I checked Amazon and found this one. I was afraid the torque would not be strong enough for centering, but that did not prove to be a problem. I've had a number of professional wheels over the years but I haven't thrown pots for five years and wanted to get back into it. Several characteristics are a little troublesome. The cord to the foot pedal is too short. It limits where you can put the wheel on stands or table tops. Otherwise you have to use it on the floor and sit on a low stool. I need to stand up to throw, so will build a stand for it. May have to put the pedal on a step. The wheel has a nice paint job which cleans easily but the removable pan is really hard to separate and put together, so I had to sand down the grabbers to make the joining of the two halves easier. The foot pedal is not as responsive as more expensive models but is adequate. You need to anchor the wheel somehow or when you center the wheel will move around because it is not very heavy. When I build a stand I will have a fence around the top to lock in the legs. the picture shows the wheel against a cupboard to keep it from sliding. The wheel is not made to throw big pots using 10 to 20 lbs of clay. But it should be fine for five lbs or so. That will make a lot of nice functional pieces. There's also no bat system. (platters that go on the wheel head to make for easy removal of pots to dry.) Anything you make you have to cut off with a wire. Be sure to order a pair of "lifters" so you can pick up wet pots without distorting them. I'm 82. so I'm past the days of throwing giant pots, but I think this inexpensive wheel will do nicely for what I want to do. ... show more

I’ve been able to throw some things on this wheel but it has started shedding fibers of what I think is metal. The shedding fibers are grainy and hurt my hands as the wheel spins. I’m looking for a bat system that will fit into the splash pan.

For someone who did not want to spend $$$ on a throwing wheel after taking some beginner ceramics classes, I wanted something that was inexpensive and reliable. I've searched for many Amazon brands though all looked the same but I was glad I purchased this one with VivoHome. They did a great job with their directions and at ease they have a responsive customer service and warranty. The only minor issue I had with this was the clean up, wished the tray was wider. Also the trays don't attach all the way so it does leak on the side but I just put paper towels under to avoid it. ... show more

I loved this machine, it was a great investment for the kids and even myself! Until I got electrocuted by it. I hate giving bad reviews but this could happen to your kid. This machine OBVIOUSLY gets wet, because working w clay implies you need water, I guess the water traveled down to the circuit and it wet the components which are extremely exposed under the metal exterior. Well, I was half way with my pot when I felt something unusual, I stoped the disc from spinning to see what was going on and touched it, and zap zap!!!! Homie shocked the living s*** out of me. I’ll try to return this product as it might be defective but damn! Also the reverse hasn’t worked for a while now but never cared since I don’t use it. ... show more
