I had never used an airbrush before this, and this kit did everything I needed it to do. I have been using it regularly over the last month to paint a 3D printed helmet, and it's worked without a hitch. The airbrushes themselves are simple to use, and I was able to easily clean them after each use with just some water, a paper towel, and a cotton swab. The compressor is quiet but small. The small air tank means the compressor will be running quite often. I recommend setting up a small fan to keep the compressor cool. First, I've never used an airbrush before, so I didn't want to invest in something expensive. I didn't have to! ONE AND ONLY Negative: I DID have to get on You tube to find a video to set it up- the instructions suck BUT it's out there, so no biggie. PAINT: The ratio for paint to water is 1:1... BUT, the flow and coverage is very dependent on the type of paint you use. The BEST is BEHR samples from Home Depot! Yup, they were gorgeous. The Next best (and equally awesome) are the MicroBlend samples (I get them here on Amazon). Both of these are about 4 bucks (and a little goes a LONG way), had lovely coverage, no clogging and mixed wonderfully. I put all my mixes in dropper bottles. I did get the airbrush flow liquid (2-3 drops per 10 drops diluted paint) and had no issues with my hours of play. There was a slight learning curve, but once the technique hit, it was so easy and fun. Craft paint and chalk paint-- don't waste your time. If that's all you have- use the craft paint with the same ratio but mix well. Depending on the age of the craft paint (i.e. thickness) you might have to mess around with it. Basically, the liquid is like opaque water colors. If you can't see through it, add water by the drop. Like anything else, this will take practice, right? Now- I might be doing something wrong (I can't find instructions yet) but I think the gun with the paint cups needs an adaptor to use with the cord given. Any ideas? Also- parts of the machine to know-- that little glass cup that hangs down collects excess water- it's not a part of the gun, per se. The knob on top adjusts the pressure (pull up/turn). The lower the pressure, the more direct the spray. The machine also cuts off and on as needed- but doesn't stopped working as you spray- not even after I played for like four hours! Purchase this because of the price. There's a $10 off coupon and it was on a special for $10 off so total $20 off. Was really excited about it, I was going to order the other kit that's $150, but when I saw this I figured heck yeah! Especially with the free returns I try it. So first off everything looks great. The brushes seem quality, the pump feels good it's nice and quiet. But that's about where it ends. The pressure capable of properly atomizing the paint is only for the first about half a second of operation Unless you barely press in the button in which case you just don't get enough pressure to push the paint out well, and it starts splattering, there is not enough pressure to fully atomize the paint and it goes from 50 psi and drops down to about 10 to 12 maybe 15 sometimes. The regulator does not seem to do anything past about the 15 psi point. As well, if the pump has to run for any period of time it starts getting hot pretty quick, and then it seems the PSI drops off even more. The longest sustained amount of time I was airbrushing was about 15 seconds. If you're ever going to just use little tiny bursts it would be perfect but if you want to do any sustained airbrushing, any type of calligraphy or something like that, you may have issues. I will say, I could have just got a defective unit. I see some other reviews that people are saying are great. And for the price, as long as you're not planning on getting anything super quality it might be a great option. But for me it's just not what I want to use it for. The uses I plan to use it for are, lure painting, cup painting, model painting, as well as clothing. So I'm going to return it in lieu of the master airbrush kit, with the tank. I will also say, a lot of it might have to do with the fact that it does not have any air storage. Hooking a small air tank up to it may fix the problems entirely. But for what it is and what it is advertised as that it can be used in constant use and that the pump is strong enough to push the airbrush, that is just not what I've experienced. ... show more
