Nice and big & very lightweight. Now I don't know how well this would do with aggressive bees, mine are pretty docile so I only need this when I'm in the hive for a long time and they start to get agitated and start telling me to leave. This top is good to keep the bees from getting to your head or in the folds of a your shirt. I'm not a super big guy but I am 6' and slim, the sleeves are plenty long and the hat is not tight. It feels like putting on an oversized sweatshirt but one made of lightweight yet stiff fabric. I imagine someone around 250# would be comfortable in it. The hood has a zipper to open but does not come off completely. The bottom and the cuffs have elastic to keep everything out that is not trying too hard to get in. This is not a wear it every day quality, it's a wear it a few times a season for a couple hours quality. But if you are not rough with it and take care it should last several years. I gave it five stars because I am judging the quality by the price paid and in that it is a good value. ... show more

Size: X-Large - Jacket
This was the first bee suit I got because it was the cheapest and I wasn't sure how long I'd be beekeeping. Admittedly, the fabric isn't the thickest and the construction isn't the strongest. Specifically, after 4 years it had some issues (tears at a seam here and there, holes in the mesh, bent wire around the hood etc.) mostly due to heavy use and me not being gentle with it either when wearing it or in storage. When I went to replace it I got a more expensive, thicker sturdier one. After using that one a few times, I reordered this one and haven't touched the "nicer" one again. The lighter fabric of this one actually keeps me from dying of heat (unlike the other one) and it's construction makes for much quicker on and off (whereas the nicer one requires a lot of zipping and strapping to both put on and take off). It's not the nicest, most expensive thing, but it's the one I've come to prefer. ... show more

I just finished my first summer as a beek. I started out using this smock. As some of the reviewers pointed out, you have to be vigilant to keep the screen/mesh from touching your skin. The hat brim is fairly sturdy and does a pretty good job at keeping the mesh in place but I found myself getting sidetracked while working the hive and the mesh would fold against my face. The size was pretty accurate. I'm 5'7" at 200LBS. I wear XL shirts so I bought this in an XL. It fit fine. Kinda baggy just like I wanted it to be. The material was sting-proof. The front pocket is very handy. The bottom of the smock is an elastic band. I have an aggressive hive and they eventually found a way up under the elastic band and I got stung 5 or 6 times on my belly. I then purchased a full suit for working the hive. I now use this smock for quick non-intrusive inspections or for visitors to wear at a distance. ... show more

    • Great light weight jacket for Florida Beekeeping
Size: Large - Jacket
Nice lightweight beekeeping jacket, perfect for year round beekeeping in Florida. I do wear a baseball cap under it, which prevents stings to the forehead through the fabric. Since I thread my ponytail through the back of the cap, it also provides structure to keep the veil in place during the occasional bit of wind. I like the mesh all the way around for ventilation in this climate, and as I mentioned the ball cap generally keeps the mesh off my neck. I also love that I get exactly what I need and it is very affordable, making it a good value for the money. It is hand washable so I let it get pretty dirty before soaking it in some soapy water with a bit of bleach, I rest the hat across the top of a tub of water as bleach will cause the wire brim to rust. Every few years I replace it, which is no big deal at that price point. Overall, this is exactly what I need! ... show more
