I'm a pretty solid dude and as a result I have a tendency to be pretty hard on any cushions I spend significant time on. Like, I should be on a first name basis with my upholsterer / foam guy, that kind of situation. So it was no surprise the built in cushion from my new wheelchair was trashed in pretty short order; it's to be expected. I should preface the rest of this by saying, I have partial mobility: I spend more time out of the chair than in it, but my foldable electric lives in the trunk of my car and we take it when we fly. Because of this, I break my chair down somewhat frequently when I'm out, and the chair goes through airports on the regular. For the "keeping it in my trunk" use case, it's mildly annoying. The pad is thick enough that it interferes with the folding mechanism so the cushion has to be unclipped, moved aside, the chair folded up (it's neat, you do it like a baby stroller!) and then the cushion tossed loose into the trunk. Reverse process after I park. It's just one of those extra steps at a time when you don't want extra steps. Y'know, because you're standing there trying to get in or out of your chair. That's not the "awkward for travel" thing I'm talking about, though. Every single time I've taken it through the airport the TSA has had to do extra screening on it. Now, the TSA is not our best and brightest, but they have a job to do and that job appears to be finding semi-dense foams and checking to make sure they're not bricks of explosives or cocaine or something. Fine, whatever. I personally think it's unnecessary but it's the modern reality after the 9/11 overreactions. Seriously, though. Every single time if I put this cushion in the X-ray line, it just sits there for a few minutes while a supervisor looks at the screen with consternation. Then they spend another 5 minutes doing their snake oil ritual of running litmus tests for explosive residue, or weed traces, or whatever they're freaking out about. Every. Single. Time. It's because of the gel inside this cushion. For some reason when these dudes X-ray it they have to hang you up in the middle of this screening commotion. For that reason alone, despite the fact that I like the cushioning power and comfort of this thing, and that it's lasted longer than I expected, I kinda wish I hadn't bought it. This is just one of those side-effects of buying things you don't think about.

This pad has made a huge change in my life. It didn't turn out the way I expected but, in a way, turned out better. I bought this with the expectation that I would use it in my wheelchair. What I didn't take in to account is the fact that my chair is an undersized wheelchair because I use it in a small mobile home and needed something that I could easily manuever through small doors and around tight corners. Well the cusion was too big BUT as I was thinking about returning it while sitting in my office chair, a light bulb went on. I'm disabled so I sit most of the time. I spend a lot of time in my office chair on the computer....which was NOT comfortable. I was always trying pillows, other special cushions (some of which are nice but not in my office chair). I even tried folding up two of those really fuzzy cozy blankets and sitting on top of those because they are SO luxuriously soft. Actually that was the most comfortable sometimes. Anyway, I decided to sit on this cushion in my office chair while I decided what to try next or to just send it back. My back had really been hurting before I sat on this in my office chair. I had been fussy around trying to find a way to make this work in my wheelchair so my back was worn out from popping up and down trying different ideas. WAIT...MY BACK ISN'T HURTING!!! I'll be darned. This turned out to be a perfect cushion for my office chair. I sit on it sometimes for a few hours at a time and it never looses it's support. As soon as I stand up, I hear the air being sucked back in the cushion. This really is a top quality cushion. It's not made for smaller wheelchairs but I'm sure would be fantastic in a standard or larger one. I know one thing. It sure make a wonderful cushion for an office chair. I also use in in my recliner sometimes. My back is very persnickity so I have to use different methods in the recliner. Sometimes I need firm..sometimes softer...somethings nothing. The cusion seems to work most of the time though. I'm thinking about buying a second one. They are expensive.

The cushion starts out comfortable and does give some pain relief for tailbone and pressure points, but if you use a wheelchair full-time, it doesn’t hold up well. The pad flattens quickly and loses support, making it less effective over time. Decent for periodic use.

It works great but it is too small and they do not make them big enough for my needs. I need 22" x 18" for my office chair but the 20" x 16" is great for comfort and pain reduction. I wish they would make them bigger so I could buy one. This works much better than my 24" x 16" memory foam bed pillow did. I had a lot of pain from long gaming sessions on my computer in my tall back leather office chair. This cushion works wonders even if I am over the edges with my huge muscular legs. It helps with pain on the bottom of the legs at the front of the chair and feels very comfortable everywhere else. The cushion compresses down to an inch high and feels great. If only it were a bit larger. I have a sheep skin draped over the cushion to help round out the edges where it is too small to fit my 32" diameter legs.
