Description

Eames House Bird by Vitra. Charles and Ray Eames augmented the interior “collage” of the Eames House with numerous objects brought back from their extensive travels. The figure of a black wooden bird — evidently one of their most prized objects of American folk art — has stood in the centre of their living room for over fifty years. Also seen as an accessory in many of the Eames’ photographs, the bird from the Appalachian mountain region of the eastern United States. Based on the original artifact and in cooperation with the Eames Family, Vitra is now producing the first Eames House Bird series of this figure.

  • The Real Thing! Eames Vitra House Bird!!!
Fabulous! It looks absolutely right in my grandmother’s 1952 Mid-Modern living room. It’s so cool having this authentic Ray Eames designed masterpiece in this wonderful house!

  • Came broken
It’s a great product, but it arrived broken. The package had lots of protection both inside and outside, but the peak of the bird was broken. I sent it back and couldn’t get a new one because it was the last one in stock.

  • Pricey and Perfect
Does anyone really need a $250 wooden bird? Not really, but it's a neat little piece of design history and looks good just about anywhere. I looked at most of the cheaper versions, but decided on this one since it was a gift for someone special and it will be around for a long time.

It was surprisingly well made. Expensive but beautiful!

  • Came Broken
The bird came with a broken beak. Realized it too late because it was a Christmas present and we were traveling.

  • To anyone who buys this. you got scammed
Ultimately this is just a huge scam. You buy an expensive bird as decor for what? The vintage look? A cool thing to have in the house for guests? So you can feel fancy? Whatever the reason, it doesn't justify wasting your money on someething like this. Did any of these verified purchasers ever stop and ask themselves what makes this so expensive? It's simply the mentality you give it that does. Nothing about this makes it expensive and it's funny to know you just hand over your money for something that most likely took less than 3 bucks make per a bird ... show more
