This is an excellent gift for anyone who loves Dr. Who. The watch is exquisite and stylish on a 26" inch antique bronze chain along with a secondary "sci-fi", designed focal on a 26" inch long chain. Both come ready to be given as a gift, in a lovely dark blue box. The watch has an out-of-this-world design on its front cover and it has a quartz movement. The battery is replaceable by a watch professional. The watch also comes with a shorter vest pocket chain.

My husband got me this as a surprise for my birth in September. Guys the looks are still holding and I've accidentally dropped it, banged it against things by accident, put it in my pocket with my keys, etc. I'm impressed and as a whovian with memory issues I use it as a prop for my memory jokes.

Updated about a year after purchasing. So.. it is a little lighter than I expected, but It's sturdy. I think it's aluminum, it sounds hollow. I had to change the battery recently but it seems to keep the time well. The door pops open when you press the button on top and clicks back on when you close it. It was difficult to take the back off and I scratched it up a bit doing so. On the inside, it has a plastic piece, (I'm guessing to keep the battery bits and bobs in place.) Also, It did come with two necklace chains and a pocket chain. (The necklace on the small piece was one of those super cheap ones and if it snags on something, its gonna break.) The other two are nice and a little heavier. Over all, it's pretty awesome and worth the $18 for a DW fan. I used it as a prop at a roaring 20's party.

First let me say as a collectors piece, this would be perfect. It looks very nice and has a very nice craftsmanship to it with a solid design. However if you plan to wear it, there is one major problem: the crown (ie the part that is used to set/wind the watch) is incredibly loose and will not stay attached if you plan to carry this. Worn to a costume contest and kept the watch in a single pocket, only for the crown to be missing when I reached for it.
