I think this is actually a good value for the money. It’s pretty sturdy, and the dark finish I bought is stained evenly. It looks like a $300 arbor. The only modification I made was to paint SPAR polyurethane omit so that it will weather better. Instructions are easy enough - diagrams sufficiently show steps. The only thing I like about the arbor is how it looks. But the quality of the material, parts, and effort you put into it, and the end result is not worth the price you pay for. Please see pictures or read on. Quality: wood is poor grade, soft and breaks easily. I don't think it is the hard wood that will last for years. It is also not treated so it is not weather proof. Components and craftmen ship: The cuts are terrible. As seen in the pictures, the knotches cut was with a dull blade, lots of splinters. The measurements of the notches was not precious. Some notches are too small and the pieces don't fit into each other well, you have to wiggle and mesh the pieces and joints together. I took a picture of one of the gusset metal plates with holes drilled in and it wasn't aligned. One of the holes was so offset, it is to the edge of the plate. If you drill a screw into it, it may break through the wood cause it is so close to edge. Note that not all holes are predrilled on the wood parts. You have to drill your own holes or eye ball it to screw the pieces together without drilling, which can risk you breaking the wood. Final result: because the cuts on the knotches are not measure and cut right by the manufacturer, the final assembly is not straight- as seen in one of the pictures, it is slanted and not up right. What would had been a 30 min assembly time took me around 2.5 hrs becuase I had to drill my own holes to make sure that when the screw goes in, it will not fracture the wood. During the packaging, they zip tied it so tightly, it chips away the paint. ... show more
