I've searched and searched for a coffee candle that actually smells like COFFEE that doesn't also smell like hazelnut and chocolate and whipped cream, and a myriad other scents that I didn't want. AND that has a throw that lasts, instead of the scent vanishing as soon as you light the candle. AND THIS IS THE ONE! I could smell it before I even opened the box. It still smells a bit like coffee with a bit of cream and sugar, not pure black coffee, but it doesn't smell like a fancy drink from Starbucks, either. I use it when I'm writing, with an ambiance playing of being in a coffee shop, and the smell really puts me there. Best one I've ever found. I guess a TRUE coffee scent/aroma in a candle is difficult to do because I have been searching for a long time and still haven't found one. I had high hopes for this but it fell short. While it's a nice scent, it's not coffee. If anything I was picking up strong notes of sweet maple, maple syrup...maybe brown sugar also. This candle does not smell like a coffee shop, does not smell like coffee just brewed and doesn't smell like coffee beans. I drink coffee daily and have a jar of coffee beans displayed on my coffee bar and I was comparing the scent of this candle with my jar of beans and it's not even close. Again, it's a nice warm scent and has good throw so that's why I gave it 4 stars but sadly it's not coffee. ... show more

Impressed by the potency of the scent, but it's sure not coffee. It's definitely more of a maple syrup smell. In fact, I've had family come to the house on separate occasions and ask if we were making pancakes! We still burn the candle, but pretty disappointed that it's not what we were expecting.

I was disappointed when I received this jar candle. It arrived with residue around the jar rim. (See photos) The gummy stuff was on the OUTSIDE of the jar. It doesn’t seem right to ask for a refund because the candle seems to be burning okay. However, if I were on the Village Candle quality control team, I’d sure want to know about this and communicate immediately with the customer. We’ll see if that happens ... show more
