The scent is a bit too heavy, but strangely suited for a Shakespearean reference. I was anticipating something more floral, but it’s a muskier, woody scent, not particularly sweet, which is a good thing for me. This has been my overall favorite scent for literally over 25 years probably since it came out. It smells kind of like a men’s cologne. I used to always buy the Yankee candle store and it seems every time I buy them through here online when I like them, it doesn’t get off the same strength of smell. *14 DEC 2013 UPDATE: I've actually come around to the scent of this candle. I burn it more frequently and will definitely buy another when this one is done. It's potent and definitely appreciated by almost everyone that comes over to my house. Initially the candle is extremely overwhelming, and I'm even talking about when it is unlit. Within a couple weeks you'll love it. It's cheap and will definitely fill a whole house with a pleasant scent. Still, seek out the Voluspa candles. Their scents are more experienced and unique. Absolutely awesome candles. *ORIGINAL REVIEW: 24 yr old bachelor. I bought this because it was recommended as a 'manly' scent for my house. This smells like a cheap cologne / Axe Body spray, and to me it is a little overwhelming. Traveling with it, unlit in my car with the lid on gave me a slight headache. I don't have too much experience in candle selection but I would definitely seek this out before you purchase it. I know plenty of women out there probably appreciate this scent, and for the price you can't find too many masculine scents, but to me it reminds me of a frat house or a 16 year old kid getting ready for a date. I also purchased some Voluspa candles with this, and they are the best candles / scents I've ever experienced. The Voluspa scents I got are much more refined and resemble a more expensive and interesting cologne/guy smell. They are pricey, but I promise you they are worth it (buy the small sample sizes first) Here are the Voluspa scents that will blow you away: Suede Blanc, Ambre Lumiere, Warm Perique Tabac, Golden Cypress Sawara. ... show more
