I was apprehensive, preferring leather over PU, however, its GREAT!!! I conditioned it out the box with leather conditioner (mink oil adds water proofing)and it made the material much more pliable and brought out a rich petina. Didn’t lay flat against my husbands chest. Had to fiddle with it. It has laces on the sides that attach the single chest piece sides to two hip pieces on the left and right. If your man isn’t exactly square in the middle and straight up and down; it’s not going to lay flat on him. It puffs out at the chest because the hip pieces and chest piece lace together along a straight line. No man has completely straight sides. They have waists too. But this can be remedied. I re-laced the sides and started at the second hole down. So the top hole of both sides of the chest piece and hip pieces (left and right) was empty and the three pieces now laced together from hole #2 down. Then I took a different lace I had already and ran it through both of the chest piece top holes on each side (not through the empty top holes of the left and right hips pieces). Then I simply pulled it and tied it around my husbands back to pull the loose sides closer to his waist so the chest didn’t puff out. It folded the two hip pieces empty top hole area under the chest piece top hole area and brought both sides closer together at the waist area and took away the chest puff. I originally was going to physically alter it somehow; but it is too stiff of leather to sew or even cut by hand. I bought this for the renaissance festival and it was perfect, the craftsmanship is very well done. The design on the front of it was also very detailed and looked awesome. Obviously once you wear it a bit and it weathers it will look even better.

Broke it the first time i Tried it on. The metal buttons holding it together are hollow and fragile. I replaced the broken ones with string and tied them tight. Works great now.
