    • Great developer monitor
I got this so i can see more code on the screen. Note this is a true 43 inch, not those thin wrap around bs screens. You can put two or more programs side by side quite easily and see quite a bit of the code without scrolling. The great thing about this monitor is the high control of the visual settings -- it's easy on the eyes. Plus having no blue light and such... Resolution is excellent, you just need to optimize it to your machine -- be sure to learn how to do that. Gaming is good too, but it wasn't why I got the machine, and I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I can't give a review of that and be fair, but honestly looks good to me. I can say that the comments about big pixels are just false -- I think they had some kind of setting wrong. Also, you don't need a driver to run the monitor, not sure why other users say that too. Finally, my only complaint are the speakers, they sound like people are in a tin can. Why sell an expensive monitor and not have at least decent sound? At least give us sound controls in the control panel -- if I could have had access to treble and bass, it wouldn't be so bad, but alas. So, do yourself a favor, pick up a low cost soundbar, I got a Saiyin 60 dollar soundbar with sub -- sounds way better than you think (not paid to say that, just trying to help you bro). 5 star coding / work quality monitor -- 4 star for sure gaming, maybe higher, dunno -- but 1 star sound (attention ViewSonic people, you need to team up with Saiyin on the next model -- also not paid to say that, just trying to help) ... show more

    • Cheated color depth with Dithering????
This is simply the worst color monitor I have ever owned. NOT AN EXAGGERATION. I spent a huge amount of time trying to figure out why images are super grainy and colored text quality is very poor. I realized that ViewSonic SEEMS to be dithering adjacent pixels to synthesize color depth. My GUESS is this monitor has about 6 bits per color of actual per color pixel control, but it could be even lower. A color image looks like the earliest color photos in newspapers. I wish there was a way to turn off the @#&*$ dithering and just live with the 5 or 6 bits of z-axis resolution for CAD and office tools. I bought this monitor a while ago and life happened preventing me from trying it until today, so I won't be returning it. Presumably with this poor quality where they seem to have cheaped out on common electronics, ViewSonic may be a Dead Company Walking. I will never buy or authorize the purchase of any ViewSonic product again. No doubt they will change names at some point, and I will be watching out for that. ... show more

Bought this back in March 2022 ($770 TTL). STILL GREAT 11-2025. Astoundingly lovable for Excel, Word, Quicken, Browsing, and some others (Gaming? What is that?). Did I say Turbo-Tax? Bring up the last year's return on the left, and the current year on the right (thanks, Windows) and prep is vastly simplified, with very little paper floating around the office. Just ry that on some skinny telephone, ha. Some people mention "lack of drivers". Well, this runs on a standard Windows "Generic PnP [plug 'n' play] Monitor." So stop worrying.. Disclosure: I have been a ViewSonic sort of fellow for about 30 years now, except for the Magnificent Hitachi 19" CRT monitor way back 20 yrs ago ($999, best $1K I ever spent). if you're considering this for gaming, please don't consider this a choice. viewsonic is 100% made for commercial purposes and as much as the monitor is good quality and able to run work specific things. however, expect some stuttering and slow response times if you're playing some pretty heavy games. ... show more

Took a gamble with buying this monitor because there were no decent (or not decent) test reviews for this particular model available online when I ordered it (Sep 2021). Suffice to say, this monitor is just acceptable, but not really great at anything. The major issue I have with this monitor is a very noticeable grid of diagonal lines, which briefly shows up whenever motion is involved. I've uploaded a pic for better description. This image was taken by recording a video while slowly moving a camera in front of the screen, and then extracting individual frames with ffmpeg. Motion means, e.g. the player character moves towards a structure in a game, motion in videos, and even when I look at a still image while changing my position. The grid 'overlay' pops up for just a split second, but the reoccurrence gets really annoying over time. Increasing screen distance improves things, but with ~ 40" (~1 m) I'm already sitting further away from my screen than most people. I've mounted the display on a monitor stand behind my desk, so I can flexibly increase the distance, but this of course defies the purpose of getting a lager screen in the first place. I wanted 4k resolution at 100% Windows 10 scaling, but would have to go up to 125% at a larger distance. That's exactly the scaling I've used with my old 32" 4k screen, so it looks like I've played myself. Some pros & cons: (+) The monitor is well-packed and protected by a humongous, large box. (+) The device comes fully assembled, including the heavy & sturdy stand. (+) All required, basic cables are included. (+) My individual 'copy' has no dead pixels, corner bleed, or other blemishes. (+) HDR in Windows 10 is supported without issues, using standard Windows PnP drivers. (+) Aside from the motion problem, still images and text look acceptable, and there are no other artifacts visible in games and videos @60Hz. (+) The screen has a DP out port, allowing to daisy-chain up to 4 monitors (-) The article description is misleading because this monitor can't do 75Hz @4k. According to the manual, 75 Hz is supported only at 2560x1600, 1920x1440, 1440x900, and a couple lower resolutions. I can't even confirm the latter because even with my iVANKY 8K DP Cable (4k@144Hz) and an RTX 3090, 75Hz is not available at any resolution. (-) Colors, especially in HDR, look washed out no matter the selected preset or manual adjustment. (-) Text at 100% scaling looks pixelated at the edges, although still acceptable. This gets better by switching to a dark theme. (-) The manual often only lists settings, without explaining them. So trial and error is unavoidable. (-) Monitor drivers, available online only, can't be installed due to error messages. The signed Windows 10 driver setup errors out by claiming the detected monitor isn't supported. Manual extraction revealed that the package indeed only includes drivers for the predecessor VX4380-4K (and older models), but not for this model, the VX4381-4K -.- For what it's worth, the VX4380-4K driver can be installed manually, but I didn't see any improvement over using the standard PnP drivers and reverted back. The unsigned Win 10 driver installer finally tops it off by wining that the operating system isn't supported -.- -.- (-) The joystick control for the OSD is terrible because the OSD often indicates different joystick directions for the same navigation. All things considered, I'm going to keep this monitor because it's technically without blemishes. Still waiting for a better solution, though. A few other options are available, sure, but they all have their issues, which made me stay clear. ... show more

I was ready to send it back and thought i will try adjusting the screen setting one more time. The problem was reading the text and plan pages.( I use it to do take offs from building plans.) were very blurry and i had to blow it up 75% to read. But i found a solution. right click on the blank screen go to display settings go to scale and layout. Scale Mine was set to 300% i changed it to 150 and WOW perfectly clear text and plans. Good quality for productivity overall. Went from 27 inch 12 year old ViewSonic, to this 43 inch, also ViewSonic, so you know i am loyal. Massive real estate for productivity. Online games are ok, even without a discrete graphics cards (I use a 12th Gen Intel CPU). No dead pixels, and brightness is good. There is motion blur when moving windows around, but that is expected from a VA panel. I recommend it for productivity. Got a second one on sale to replace wife's 27 inch Viewsonic too. ... show more

I took a chance no this panel because the price was good, however you get what you pay for. I thought a brand like viewsonic which specializes in office monitors would look as good as my 43" Dell at work, however this monitor I purchased from home is extremely depressing to look at. You can clearly make out individual pixels and the images look grainy as if the monitor was being displayed in thousands of colors instead of Millions. I am using a new Apple Imac 2014 with M2 chip and Thunderbolt connection and I can tell you it is not the settings or signal as I hoped it was in some of these other negative reviews. The problem is that each pixel does not sit right next to the pixels around them creating a black grid around every on screen pixel. This gives images a very grainy look and text and solid colors don't look solid. They look textured due to the seperation distance of pixels. See my screenshot and look how horrible those grey colors look. It is the same with color images. You need to sit at a distance of teice as far away from your keyboard in order for the image to look clean. Avoid this at all costs, you will end up with a heavy monitor that you will have to return and returning somthing this size is a huge hassle in my opinion. . I use a similar sized Dell 43 inch monitor at work and my screen looks super sharp and I can't even make out pixels if I move in 6 inches from my screen, whereas I can see pixels and obnoxious horizontal lines even from 4 feet away from this Viewsonic Monitor which I bought for home use. ... show more
