  • How to Brighten Screen of Aging Monitor!
Style: 32-Inch 1440p Pattern: Monitor
I haven't written a lot of Amazon reviews, but really thought this one may be helpful. I bought this monitor in July 2018, so I've had it over 5 years. I use it in a home office. The screen is on at least 12 hours per day, often a couple hours more. About six months ago, the screen appeared noticeably dimmer. I played with the settings and adjusted the brightness to 100% but it made only the slightest difference. I opened Amazon today to start looking for a replacement monitor and something told me to take one more look at the settings. I'm so glad I did! I noticed a ViewMode setting in the menu. Obviously it's always been there but I guess it never registered to check that setting. I'm not sure what setting the monitor was on, but when I selected the "Web" option under ViewMode, the screen became instantly brighter! I managed to buy this monitor for $240 five years ago thanks to a $60 off Lightning Deal! After my recent settings change, it's now brighter than my smaller and more expensive Dell monitor!!! I'll definitely consider ViewSonic the next time I'm in the market for another monitor! ... show more

  • Outstanding for Work
Style: 43-Inch 4K UHD Pattern: Monitor
I’m a software engineer and I work for about 10-11 hours per day. I had a curved screen which I liked, but I wanted something larger. I work with Office and PDF documents quite a bit and require crystal clear text on my screen. This turned out to be perfect! Excellent viewing of text, small and large, video conferencing calls are clear and picture perfect, as is various edit tools and the Adobe Suite of apps. I couldn’t be happier and the excellent service from Amazon made getting it easy. It’s: I am not a gamer so have no comments on that. I use this with my work MacBook Pro laptops ... show more

  • Not for video, gaming and medicore image quality
Style: 43-Inch 4K UHD Pattern: Monitor
Took a gamble with buying this monitor because there were no decent (or not decent) test reviews for this particular model available online when I ordered it (Sep 2021). Suffice to say, this monitor is just acceptable, but not really great at anything. The major issue I have with this monitor is a very noticeable grid of diagonal lines, which briefly shows up whenever motion is involved. I've uploaded a pic for better description. This image was taken by recording a video while slowly moving a camera in front of the screen, and then extracting individual frames with ffmpeg. Motion means, e.g. the player character moves towards a structure in a game, motion in videos, and even when I look at a still image while changing my position. The grid 'overlay' pops up for just a split second, but the reoccurrence gets really annoying over time. Increasing screen distance improves things, but with ~ 40" (~1 m) I'm already sitting further away from my screen than most people. I've mounted the display on a monitor stand behind my desk, so I can flexibly increase the distance, but this of course defies the purpose of getting a lager screen in the first place. I wanted 4k resolution at 100% Windows 10 scaling, but would have to go up to 125% at a larger distance. That's exactly the scaling I've used with my old 32" 4k screen, so it looks like I've played myself. Some pros & cons: (+) The monitor is well-packed and protected by a humongous, large box. (+) The device comes fully assembled, including the heavy & sturdy stand. (+) All required, basic cables are included. (+) My individual 'copy' has no dead pixels, corner bleed, or other blemishes. (+) HDR in Windows 10 is supported without issues, using standard Windows PnP drivers. (+) Aside from the motion problem, still images and text look acceptable, and there are no other artifacts visible in games and videos @60Hz. (+) The screen has a DP out port, allowing to daisy-chain up to 4 monitors (-) The article description is misleading because this monitor can't do 75Hz @4k. According to the manual, 75 Hz is supported only at 2560x1600, 1920x1440, 1440x900, and a couple lower resolutions. I can't even confirm the latter because even with my iVANKY 8K DP Cable (4k@144Hz) and an RTX 3090, 75Hz is not available at any resolution. (-) Colors, especially in HDR, look washed out no matter the selected preset or manual adjustment. (-) Text at 100% scaling looks pixelated at the edges, although still acceptable. This gets better by switching to a dark theme. (-) The manual often only lists settings, without explaining them. So trial and error is unavoidable. (-) Monitor drivers, available online only, can't be installed due to error messages. The signed Windows 10 driver setup errors out by claiming the detected monitor isn't supported. Manual extraction revealed that the package indeed only includes drivers for the predecessor VX4380-4K (and older models), but not for this model, the VX4381-4K -.- For what it's worth, the VX4380-4K driver can be installed manually, but I didn't see any improvement over using the standard PnP drivers and reverted back. The unsigned Win 10 driver installer finally tops it off by wining that the operating system isn't supported -.- -.- (-) The joystick control for the OSD is terrible because the OSD often indicates different joystick directions for the same navigation. All things considered, I'm going to keep this monitor because it's technically without blemishes. Still waiting for a better solution, though. A few other options are available, sure, but they all have their issues, which made me stay clear. ... show more

  • 32" 4K for Novice Content Creater's
Style: 32-Inch 4K UHD Pattern: Monitor
This review is for the ViewSonic VX3211-4K-MHD 32 inch version. I believe the description is incorrect on the % color gamut. The manufactures page says this particular model is 95% NTSC color gamut. The 2K model maybe be different. Im not saying this is a con, I am just pointing that out. For the 32" 4k market, there is some competition at this price point. I do not believe any of that competition rolls up this many features into one product, however. Beautiful display, tons of brightness and contrast, HDR10 capability, 8-bit+Hi-FRC (perfectly acceptable at this price point), 95% or better color coverage (advertised), 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, 1x DP 1.2, integrated speakers 2x2.5W, PIP, VESA mountable, and so on. Getting all that for this price is actually a very good deal, and I do not believe there is a single other monitor that includes all that or better/more for anywhere near this price. You would have to spend hundreds more to surpass the complete feature set of this monitor. The primary target audience for this monitor is budget conscious content creators and/or those looking to double duty a computer monitor as a small room entertainment screen. Pro content creators will want that better color gamutcoverage/10-bit. 95% NTSC color gamut and 8-bit+Hi-FRC is nothing to sneeze at, but will just not be good enough for pro level content creation. Gamers will hate this monitor for the most part. Refresh rates and response times are too slow for those users. Casual users will find this product too big/expensive. For novice content creation, this is probably the best choice under 400 bucks. I find the colors very vibrant and true, contrast is excellent, and the dynamic range to be great. Out the box the calibration is very good. I have run this monitor in 4k, 1440p and 1080p, and all look pretty fantastic. The speakers are weak, but serviceable. There is an audio out. The interface buttons and OSD menus are not great, and can be very awkward to use. There is a bit of a learning curve with that. The viewing angles are at least above average, as expected for an VA panel. Both HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0 (b, I think), which allows for 4k 60Hz provided you have a good video card. Cable management behind the monitor is largely absent, however, I was able to bend and hide the cables rather well. You will need a zip tie or Velcro strap to do it. Stability is good, and the monitor is tiltable. However, you cannot adjust the height. Overall, I would buy this again for my use. I do spend a lot of time doing content creation for our personal use, and this monitor is pretty darn good for that. You will want two profiles saved. One for content creation and another for general use. I would not recommend this for the serious gamer, as the refresh is just too low and you are better off with a 1440p 144Hz monitor. You will need pretty good hardware to run this monitor up to its potential. Integrated graphics has gotten better, but your computer will run pretty hard to drive 4k 60Hz with it even just for basic tasks. I would say an Nvidia 1050/1050ti is probably the minimum you will want to have, though the experience will be much better with a 1060 or higher. If you are using Davinci Resolve, you will want a 1080/2070 or better. ... show more
