  • Great Monitors x3
Display Size: 28 Inches
I now have three of these monitors mounted to my desk using a Mount-It! Articulating Single Arm Computer Monitor Desk Mount for 27-Inch Monitors (MI-751) and a VIVO STAND-V002 Dual LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty Fully Adjustable Fits 2/Two Screens up to 27" (while the mounts are sold under different brand names, they are from the same manufacturer). I started with just one monitor to hook up to my laptop, then decided a second one would make life even better, and completed the set-up with a third monitor so I can have multiple documents open at the same time. The monitors are connected to my laptop using the Anker Dual Display Universal Docking Station with DVI/HDMI (up to 2048 x 1152), Audio, Gigabit Ethernet, 6 USB ports (2 USB 3.0 + 4 USB 2.0), 38W Adapter, Supports Surface Pro / 2 / 3 and more , which is brilliant. I went with three of the same monitor to more easily match display colors and brightness with each other. Two of the monitors have been in near constant use for over a year and a half, and the third monitor for 6 months, and all still work great and with no pixel or any other issues. If not for the build date printed on the back of the monitor, I couldn't tell which is the newest or oldest. I do a lot of work with text and spreadsheet documents as well as video and photo editing, and they provide a crisp, clear display. Streaming videos look great on these monitors. I have not calibrated them since I don't edit photos to that degree and I keep the brightness down anyway (as I have three of them facing me all day), but they were as easy to match color and brightness as I had hoped. I use a separate audio system at the desk so I can't comment on the speakers (I continued buying this version of the monitor with speakers only to guarantee screen color matching). I've been very pleased with these monitors. UPDATE: I now have FOUR of these monitors in nearly constant use, all connected to my laptop via the Anker docking station (I actually also have a 42" LED TV I am using as a fifth monitor, through the same Anker docking station - the docking station is amazing!). It's hard to believe that it has been 4 years since I originally wrote this review, but I'm happy to say that all monitors are working today exactly as they did when they were new. The two oldest monitors are now about 5.5 years old, and since I use them for my business, they have seen at least 8 hours of use nearly every day. I don't know if all ViewSonic monitors are this reliable, but this particular model has been fantastic in my experience. ... show more

  • Very good monitor for the money.
Display Size: 22 Inches
I bought this monitor after doing some research about monitors. I've been "messing" with computers since 1993 and the Viewsonic brand has always been a solid name in monitors. This one doesn't disappoint ... at least in my humble opinion. The screen is sharp and bright ( a bit too bright, I had to turn down the brightness a bit). Has good side to side viewing angles(I've looked at it from the extreme angle and the picture is still sharp, bright, and full of color). With it's 5 ms refresh time and 60 mhz response, it might not be the ideal monitor for gamers. However, in the games I play (mostly strategy and city building titles like Cities Skylines, Planet Coaster, Banished and so forth) performs quite well. Viewsonic does make some gaming oriented monitors, but this one fits my needs quite well. All in all, I would recommend this monitor. It's worth every penny of it's price. ... show more

  • Oh how the might hath fallen
Display Size: 27 Inches
I've always felt Viewsonic was a good brand, and I've bought four or five Viewsonic monitors in the last twenty years. Display quality was always high, and they were always well built and sturdy. Apparently, that's changed. This model is none of those things. When the box was dropped off, the seal on the box was already cut, which was my first clue that I was either getting a return, or a poor product someone sent back. The base for this model is the cheapest I've ever seen. Being plastic it's already flimsy, but with almost no metal reinforcement. The slightest movement of my desk makes the whole monitor wobble. There's also no HDMI cable included, just a cheap VGA cable that looks like it's a couple decades old. On the box, under contents, they list it as a "video" cable. Since when does a tech company *not* use technical terms? Not a huge deal, I have spare HDMI cables, but still... it's not what I would have expected from Viewsonic. If the display quality was good, I'd let both complaints slide, but honestly, it's garbage. It's fuzzy, the contrast is mediocre, and my eyes have feel somewhat strained after just twenty minutes. I'm honestly appalled, I didn't expect this. Even the viewing angle is awful. I've always recommended Viewsonic to others, and this is one electronic purchase where I honestly didn't think there was the slightest chance I'd be let down. I thought, if I bought a Viewsonic, I knew I'd get a good quality monitor regardless of the price point, and my only conclusion is that Viewsonic has let quality slide to save money and stay competitive with their rivals. It shows. ... show more

  • Cheap as dirt price, bad monitor drivers, but here's the fix for washed out colors:
Display Size: 24 Inches
Update: The color problems I was experiencing were related to the default drivers for this monitor being incorrectly configured. Even the drivers on the ViewSonic site are incorrectly configured. This monitor was using RGB Limited mode by default, even after resetting to default using the monitor's OSD. This can be fixed inside Nvidia/AMD/Intel Control Panel software. Nvidia Control Panel: Under Change resolution, set output dynamic range from limited to full AMD Control Panel: Under Pixel format, set from Limited RGB to Full RGB. Intel Control Panel: Under Quantization range, set to Full Range. Original review: If you just want a cheap monitor and price is more important than color accuracy then this is a definite buy for you. This monitor is IPS but not a good IPS. They advertise "ultra-wide" viewing angles but the viewing angles actually very narrow. So narrow that you must be sitting directly in front of the monitor and at least 3-4 feet from the monitor. Also, color accuracy is poor and colors are washed out, especially yellows, oranges, and some reds. Last but not least this monitor has horribly bright blacks. ... show more
