Gave this to my niece for her birthday (filled w/candies). She loved it till she found she need to put coins to get the candy. She now 'works' for her candy money. What she saves she uses to replenish. Great way for her to learn to save, earn her own money to buy what she wants.

This gumball machine is great. The construction is good and it is not entirely plastic. It feels durable and the turning mechanism is fairly easy to use. Opening the top to fill it only requires a coin to turn the top screw (it shouldn't be very tight or you may put stress on the glass). If you desire, it is easy to override the coin mechanism (I did) as well as adjust the size of the portion given with each turn in case you decide to put small candies like M&Ms or Skittles inside (avoid gummy candies as they get stuck in the mechanism). Taking it apart to adjust the mechanisms is not difficult and requires a phillips-head screwdriver. The coins are held in a bank that can be easily accessed from the bottom. Overall, this is a great gumball machine with a cool vintage look. It is easy to use and not difficult to adjust the components inside. ... show more

The Victory Retro Gumball Machine is really nice for the price point. I have a small plastic one now on my desk, but this will be an upgrade for sure. I love that it is all metal and has an actual glass dome. You can disable the mechanism so you can use it without a coin, but I just keep a stack of pennies next to it as that is half the fun. It just takes a second to empty the coins out when I run out. Another nice feature is the cover over where the gumballs fall out to keep the tray clean and dust free. I got this to use at work, and it's been great. It's really easy to clean, and it's also easy to switch from being coin operated to being free. You can adjust how much is dispensed with each turn of the dial, and it accommodates various candies. I've even done banana Runts that have worked great. I LOVE this Victory Retro Gumball Machine. Growing up, this was one of my favorite things. This is just like the one I had. It's well made and you can use it with gumballs or candy such as M&M's. You put in a penny and out comes gum! There is a twist off on the bottom so you can retrieve the money. It's easy to put the gum/candy in. You unscrew the top and then unscrew the inner part, fill with gum/ candy and the rescrew everything. It literally takes less than 10 seconds to do this. Your kids will love this.
