I needed a 3.25 x 2” aluminum round. I decided to make one instead of buying. I had plenty of scrap aluminum. Finding a spot to set up without burning the house down was tough. I put down some steel siding and a short stand with a piece of pizza oven stone under the forge out in the yard. This things sounds like a rocket! Lots of fun. Worked perfect..well not but it was usable..the casting..the forge worked perfectly! Had to machine the cast to make it work but I got it. Nice. Watched a lot of YouTube. Would buy again. Bought some pouring tongs..the $29 ones. ... show more

I recently purchased the VECOR 12KG melting furnace propane forge, and I sadly must say that I'm pretty disappointed. First off, the build quality is pretty unreliable and doesn’t seem strong enough. Secondly, the performance is not good at all! It struggles to get to and maintain its optimal temperatures, making it difficult to melt an aluminum round. Also it costs a lot of money filling it with propane which makes using this just super expensive! Sadly I would say if your really into matal forging I would not get this. If however, you so just want to experiment and nothing else, then for that it would be fine. ... show more

I always wanted to melt gold and I was very excited when I order this. It is easy to assemble and a very neat furnace but the instructions on how to use it are not that clear. So I watched youtube video and realized that it is not really for beginners, you need to learn things before use. It is easy to use once you watch some "how to" videos. ... show more

I have a CV jewelry forge that takes this kind of crucible. Many other makes have disintegrated with use and don't fit well in the neck of the forge. This one is perfect. I was disappointed in the side and did not work for what I was planning.very big issue is after first use after tempering was the lid no longer fits when hot. Still work but does not set firmly on the top ant let’s flame out the sides. Shopping was not the best for me

I get 10-15 firings when melting aluminum with this crucible, for copper i wouldn’t pass 6-7. 5-6 to be on the safe side so it won’t crack while pouring. Never fill it up all the way to the rim.fill 3/4 ideally. When new: Always heat upto 500c for 15-20 mins first time using and then increase to 900c empty for 15 mins or so. then let it cool inside the furnace overnight. Afterwards you can start melting metal and get more firings out of it. Do not bang or drop it. Always heat your prongs, clamps and any other tools that may come in contact with the hot crucible. Always heat your molds to prevent steam explosions. Use protective gloves, shoes, goggles etc…. ... show more
