The media could not be loaded. UPDATE, 12/2/22: I have since learned how to snap the splatter tray into place. As another reviewer said, it takes quite a bit of effort. However, when snapped into place, it's much more sturdy, enough to where I can rest my arms on the edge while throwing, which is nice when I need more stability. After discovering this bonus, I will continue to do this when I have a lot of pieces to throw. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have been taking a pottery class at the local art center, and wanted to be able to throw at home to make my class time more productive. Like most students, I wasn't ready to invest $700-$1500+ in a professional wheel, so I began exploring other options. I chose this wheel because of the larger wheel size and the more powerful motor, as well as the adjustable legs and reversible motor (I am a lefty). The wheel comes in at 13.5 inches, not the stated 14". No bat pins (though I knew this going in). I will be adding bat pins in the near future. I don't really like the feeling of the grooves of the wheel when my hands make contact with it. It feels abrasive, like a friction burn, if I keep contact longer than a few seconds, and I prefer bats, so this was really an upgrade I was expecting to make, anyway. I was able to adjust the leg height using a vice grip, but it wasn't effortless to get the pins out or back in the new position. The adjustment only gave me about 3+ extra inches of height, which still makes it necessary to purchase concrete blocks to get a good working height (so if the adjustable legs are the reason driving your purchase, this feature won't matter much in the end). I have not figured out how to make the splash tray snap together while on the wheel, though it does go together when it's off the wheel. I have used painter's tape to keep the gaps closed, and to be honest, I would rather do this than try to figure out how it goes together, since it kind of works for me. It takes only a few seconds to tape, and I don't have to struggle with the splash tray while removing or replacing. Even with the more powerful motor, the wheel doesn't spin as fast as the professional wheels I learned on, but definitely fast enough so I can throw anything I want effectively. I don't throw large heavy items, but this wheel has no trouble handling 3 lbs of clay, which is the largest thing I've thrown on it, and it probably can take much more. I don't know how the larger motor compares to the smaller one in the Vevor line. The unit has a cover on the bottom of the wheel table base, whereas many of these similar units are open on the bottom, which adds a layer of protection to the underside, protecting the inner workings. Overall, I'm very satisfied, but I did feel most let down by the minimal adjustibility of the legs. I will update my review if anything changes. ... show more

    • Defective product with a wobble

UPDATE: The wobble on this wheel has made it impossible to use. In the video, you can see that the wheel underneath has a really bad manufacturing defect which makes it wobble and therefore, the wheel head above also has the same wobble. You can also see that there’s burnt parts underneath and i think it’s part of the manufacturing defect as well since this product is new and should have clean paint underneath. I saw this product listed on Home Depot’s website for double the price and I’ve also seen other people’s reviews complaining about this product’s wobble here on Amazon. It makes me wonder if this particular vendor, VEVOR?, sell all their defective products at half the price here on Amazon. This product is not usable and I would like a refund. Original review: The wheel itself is pretty powerful for a beginner potter like myself. What makes this product hard to use it the fact that it has a slight wobble so it is hard to center and even more difficult to throw a piece that has even walls. ... show more

It's fairly light weight. But the spinning plate is not level so it wobbles when it rotates, so it would make it hard to center and pull the clay. Also, the motor makes a thumping noise.

Received the package. Packaging was simple (styrofoam, bubble wrap ). The product came out of the box all assembled and in great shape. Visually inspecting the wheel, everything looks brand new and no damage. I turned the wheel on and tested all of the buttons. They all work and the wheel spins perfectly. No wobble no shake. The wheel feels strong and good torque. I pressed down with my palm as the wheel was spinning. The power feels plenty to be able to center 20 pounds of clay. I have not centered any clay on it yet but I will update the review as soon as I do. So far so good. ... show more

Don't get me wrong this pottery wheel is really great for that low of a price. It's not nearly as nice as some of the industry standard brands but this wheel is reliable and does what it's supposed to do. The speed is reliable and it's a great wheel for a beginner or a hobbies. I will say it in a bit small that I expected but nothing that bothers me too much. It spins smooth and works really well I recently started getting back into pottery and don't have a huge studio space but I'm glad I started with this wheel. It's affordable (for me) and the compact size makes it easy to store away when not in use. My only issue was that when I got it the rubber feet on the bottoms of the legs were missing. No big deal, I'm not pick, and it didn't effect the performance at all. Great value for this price! I recommend the wheel for sure! ... show more
