  • Simple installation, does what it says it will do.
Material Type: Metal Size: 24x24in
My house has a retrofitted upstairs with hatches throughout the rooms leading to a crawlspace AROUND the rooms. They were fitted with these plywood drywall contraptions when I bought the house. I purchased these doors to replace those hatches. They screw in easily, two screws on each side. The screws on the hinge side go in easiest if you are on the inside of it and close the door. That will not always be feasible so you may just have to drive them in and force the door through. A small cutout in the hinge side where the screw holes go may be useful. In my case I just opened the door and forced the metal to skip over the screw heads and now it's fine. This is just metal. In my case with the attic I have to add insulation to keep the attic air from seeping through the cracks and crushing my HVAC. This is simple for me. I added 2 inches of foam board insulation to the back of the door using construction adhesive and I added simple adhesive foam weatherstripping around the inside edge of the frame to cut off air flow. Problem solved for maybe $30. All-in-all, installation was straightforward and it did exactly what I wanted it to do. I knew I'd need to insulate going into the project so that wasn't a big deal for me. One thing though, the locking mechanism is non-keyed and is welded in. If you hope to replace the mechanism with a key lock, you will not be able to with this product. ... show more

  • Nice and high quality
Material Type: Metal Size: 24x24in
Do your due diligence. For example, I put my wood blocks at each hole to secure door. There are 8 screw holes. Personally, I think 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom will suffice. The screws I used to hold the wood blocks at each screw hole were covered with mud and sanded/painted before screwing the door to the blocks. ... show more

  • Well made but watch cutout size
Material Type: Metal Size: 16x16in
Arrived in a damaged box, but the access panel door was fine, no issue. It's well made and surprisingly sturdy for the price. BUT...the panel cutout is 16.25"x16.25 and not 16.0"x16.0" If it had fit a 16"x16" opening, I'd have given it 5 stars.

  • Great value for what it is.
Material Type: Metal Size: 16x16in
After shopping around, this was one of the lowest in its category but the quality is comparable to the competitors. I would recommend if in the market. Only issue was on the description. It stated the item was grey or silver but came in white. I wanted it in white anyway so it worked out but for those looking might not get it because of that. ... show more

  • Door itself is great but three main problems with the design.
Material Type: Stainless Steel Size: 12x12in
Ok so I was on the fence about 3 or 4 stars. I ended up going with 3 based on the following. First the good parts. The unit looks good and is a nice heavy gauge. The cutout dimensions as listed (at least for the 12" unit) were exactly right and it slide right in. So the reason its getting 3 stars: 1. Parts of the lock are not stainless. The unit has been installed two weeks and the lock bezel is starting to show rust spots already. The lock cylinder itself seems ok so far, but I'm concerned that the lock will start to seize up, A rusted bezel is not the end of the world, but if the lock cylinder starts to go its a big issue (partially due to my point #2). I found stainless cabinet locks which might be a possible replacement option for $6-$10 online so Vevor for god's sake just raise the price $5 and put a true stainless lock on this unit. 2. The door tends to swing open when not locked. I'm going to hot glue a couple of magnets into it to fix this but this is something the door should have from the factory. From the reviews a lot of people are using this to access a gas valve like I'm doing. So when the gas is on I want the door to be unlocked for easy access in case of emergency but I also want it to stay closed and not swing open halfway all the time. When the gas is actually switched off at the valve it'd be nice to lock it. The unit design should include a magnet catch like other doors for outdoor kitchens. 3. Though the depth of the unit is shown in the listing on the picture with the dimensions, its not real clearly laid out in the specs and even the pic is not exactly right. I'll take some responsibility but there's no reason for this unit to be 3" deep at the insert. You need enough flange to mount it but not this much. In my case the gas hard line was about 2 1/2 inches behind cement board so I actually had to cut a notch in the flange to clear the gas line. I realize this is a combination of me missing the depth in the listing and my specific gas setup, but like I said I don't think there's a reason for the flange to be that deep. If your gas line was running through a stud style wall you'll have to do some modification to use this depending on the thickness of your backer board and how you mount it. If you want it to be flush with the external stonework keep the 3" depth in mind. At the end of the day I'm basically happy with the unit and how it looks but knowing I'm going to have to replace the lock parts is takes some of that happiness away. ... show more
