My main take away from this hoist is that its cheap. At under the $200 mark, it comes as no surprise that the construction is questionable. The duty cycle alone will tell you all you need to know. Pros: I was able to lift a 450 lb equipment rack by myself. Wireless remote works, installation was easy. Cons: yeah, it is very cheaply built, I would not stand anywhere near it when lifting something (which makes the 300 foot range of the wireless remote particularly attractive). The snatch hook (which must be used to get the advertised maximum lift capacity) is garbage. I replaced it with a real one before lifting anything. Can't really complain about the instructions being poor as there were none to speak of, but my biggest concern is there is no cable guide for the drum. Just a couple runs up and down will bunch the cable to one side of the drum and will eventually get kinked from binding if you are not careful. All in all, if you can't shell out 2k for a real chain hoist, and you only need something to do occasional lifting, this will work fine (as long as it shows up in once piece from extremely poor packaging) My model was rated at 1320lbs but I would not dare more than 800lbs. ... show more

My particular unit did not come with any sort of installation instructions, but is pretty straightforward to install for someone moderately knowledgeable on how these things work. Solid and secure mounting location and adequate hardware to handle the loads that are being lifted is key. It does come with a pulley snatch block which is a very nice addition, and while slowing the speed down by half, you can at the same time hoist twice the load. The only negative that I have after installing and running it through it's courses, is that in my case, the cable seemed to be improperly wound to the cylinder from the factory which created some flat and slightly kinked areas causing the cable to be a bit noisy when under load. I can hear the parts of the cable sort of "grinding" together as the flat portions work around the cylinder. I'll most likely change the cable out for piece of mind, because I view this as something that could prematurely degrade the integrity of the cable even after extensive lubrication......In a nutshell, solid hoist at a great price.....just check the condition of the cable before putting it to use. ... show more

I am fairly satisfied with the hoist i got it for use with a Unistrut trolley system and it fits to the trolley just fine, only complaint i really have is that there is not much control over motor speed which can be an issue when trying to align a heavy object but other wise it is good, as an additional note when considering this make sure you really want the wireless remote when i ordered this i thought it would be cool and handy but after a little bit i discovered that it is just 1 more thing to lose in a workshop and spends most of its time now clipped onto the hook of the hoist with its included lanyard. ... show more

I bought the one with remote switch so no cord hanging. So far working great. Lifted front end of lawn mower to change the blades. Worked good, would recommend.
