  • Good value for money for starting level CNC router machine
The machine is great for basic hobby work. It is a 3018 Prover machine with and good solid frame and a 100W spindle. The machine has a good build quality and is value for money. Some other competitors are offering similar machines which are almost 1.5 times the cost. If you want to upgrade to a larger frame and spindle (Router motor) I will not recommend this or any entry-level 3018 machines as an upgrade will cost you more than buying a larger machine. ... show more

  • Drivers will not download
I have been trying to get the candle software drivers to download with no success. The jump drive that came with the machine was useless, it will not download the drivers only a manual that is in Chinese. I submitted a question to the email I received and I got a English version of directions that still does not help with getting the drivers and candle software to download. So I went online to try and down load it another way besides the jump drive and I did exactly as instructions read even paid 9.99 to upgrade all my drivers on my laptop and still will not run the software. All I get is a Zip drive and I extract the contents create the shortcut and still will not run. As far as the machine goes the frame is solid all aluminum however it was missing April drilled hole for one of the limit switches. It came with a colorful manual however it stopped on page 10 after attaching the baffles. No instructions on how to run the wires through the mesh sock provided so I had to utube the wiring of the machine. The jump drive is useless unless you can read Chinese and the video sent does not help because it asks you to use the jump drive for installation purposes. I tried to download the free candle and grbl drives and that to did not help at all. So far I am not impressed with the machine setup and after two days of fooling with it I have no desire to go forward in even trying to get the machine to run. I realize that this is my first cnc machine and there is a learning curve but it should not take two days to download drivers for a free source software when you paid for the drivers with the purchase. I have some experience with using cnc software but it doesn’t do any good if the software won’t down load. Maybe someone else has some insight and could point me in the right direction before it is boxed back up and returned. ... show more

  • Clone of a Clone....Lacking solid directions.
Great way to acquire base parts, but dont expect quality assurance. Manual provided only covers assembly of physical structure, Not wiring or controller itself. Thumbdrive provided was a crap shoot to test your logic skills. Frame was assembled wrong from factory. Had to disassemble face plates rotate to have the sensor mounts in correct spot. The Motherboard would not function properly. Limit Switches would stop the axis, but not release to correct. Had to reset board to clear fault. Once board started to print file one drive , the machine would try to start, but the controller would reboot. Put 3rd party board in and all was fine. Asked vendor to replace $30 motherboard and they are passing to Amazon, who passed it to them in the first place. ... show more

  • Happy with the product after some minor modifications
This was my first CNC machine, but i have a lot of experience with machines in general. I'm happy with my purchase, but for $220 it's not perfect, but it has potential, and there's very little instructions. If you are new to CNC and Gcode, don't plan on plugging in and engraving something immediately. It includes the basic run software, but you have to have a drawing/editing program to create what you want to cut or engrave. personally i used Inkscape, and had to watch many many videos on how to use it, and many trial cuts to get it figured out and a week later, i'm cutting out some acrylic beautifully. Down to the nuts and bolts. While it does arrive pre-assembled, understand it's probably thrown together on a warped bench with little squareness, and the bolts holding the carriage was barely tightened. I played around trying to tram it and square it for 2 days before i gave up and took everything apart, measured everything and put it together the way it should be. What i discovered was the Z rail rods was incorrectly sized. The rods had a difference of .020" between them. One rod being .005" longer than the frame, and one rod .015" shorter than the frame. so when everything was tightened, it had a warped wave across the Z axis of nearly .050". Luckily i had a small lathe and could shave the .005" off one rod, and used brass shim stock to add .015" to the other. and in the end i was able to reduce the wave to less than .002" in 4 inches of the 12" of travel. the remaining 8" less than 0.0005" Another issue i discovered is there is a lot of runout in all of the axis's that need to be adjusted out by playing with the leadscrew backlash nuts. in the end i was able to get rid of all of the runout... less than .001" of play.. There is also an acrylic piece under the carriage which is for the limit switches.... and it can be modified to gain an extra 2" of travel on the Y axis if needed. I also upgraded the motor to 20,000RPM with a 15 amp power supply.... which works great, but in doing that, the candle program spindle speed is off by 20:1, and haven't figured out how to fix it yet. But the spindle speed is correct when it comes to the offline controller, which i haven't used yet. In the end. I'm happy with the engraver. I've been using it to cut precision parts which need to be nearly perfect. so i had to extra work before the machine could do that. But for basic engraving, i'm sure it would work great right out of the box even with it being slightly tilted. ... show more

  • The manufacturer will not support this because it wasnt sold on their website
The first one i got had a cracked z axis and the 2020 extrusion holding the x axis together were not cut evenly or square on the ends. Causes the rods to flex. Replaced it. The 2nd one was missing all the t-nuts for assembly. Same issue with the x axis extrusion. Not even or square. Replaced it again. The 3rd one came with the same poorly cut frame pieces. I bit the bullet and ordered some new extrusion pieces and cut and squared them up. Rebuilt the frame from scratch. Its an okay unit now. But the manufacturer vevor will not support this or supply parts. Warranty coverage does not apply to anything not sold on their website. Not worth the hassle or the headaches.
