  • So far a very nice product1
Package is terrific. Lathe came in very good condition! I will work with it tomorrow. Used my engine crane to put it on top of my toolbox that I had my other lathe on. I am hoping this lathe will be better. The research I have done on this lathe has leaded me to believe it is better. We will see! So far so good! ... show more

  • I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting it to at least run and it couldn't even do that.
Mine came broken out of the box. Turned it on and the fuse immediately blew. Contacted their support, and they sent a new "head box", which was the spindle+housing assembly (which contained the motor coils), for me to replace by myself. After replacing it the control board popped and smoked. They are sending a replacement board as of a few days ago, which will take another couple of weeks to get here. I've had this for almost a month and it's still doesn't work. Btw, they say that the spindle is MT4, but it's not. The max diameter of MT4 is supposed to be 1.2310", the minimum diameter of the spindle bore is listed as 32mm (1.260"). I'm not sure what the actual bore size is. They also don't mention that it can't do some threads within the range they list with the provided gears, it's buried somewhere in the manual *after* you get it. ... show more

  • Good value, but requires some conditioning. Also WIRING ISSUES.
Good value for the money, but requires disassembly to polish, debur, and grease the gibs, and properly tension the lead screw. Also the thrust bearings are ungreased garbage. I replaced them with new ones. Also I advise that you open the electrical cabinet and ensure that the chassis grounding wire is PROPERLY ATTACHED, because mine was NOT. The grounding wire had a terminal crimp on it, but was just rattling around inside, ready to wreak havoc on whatever circuitry it could touch. See photo!! ... show more

  • Up in smoke on first use
I received this lathe 2 days ago and made my first cuts today. The lathe went up in smoke during the first facing pass. Watch the video to see for yourself. I used the lathe for less than 2 minutes total. Initially, I tried to face the material and the cross slide stopped advancing despite me continuing to spin the handle. I immediately backed the tool off the material, tested the cross slide and returned to attempt to face the material again. This is when the video starts. I begin facing the material, about .012" deep, and the spindle bogs down. I hesitate because of the spindle losing RPMs and then back it off the material. At this point I can smell electronics burning. A few seconds later the puff of smoke emerges and the fuse is blown. I replaced the fuse and tried running the spindle not under any load to try to diagnose the problem. The spindle would only start intermittently. I have contacted Vevor asking for assistance diagnosing the problem and sending new parts. I will update this review once the issue is resolved. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone that is considering purchasing this. As others have also mentioned, this lathe comes full of grime and needs to be completely disassembled, cleaned and reassembled before using. Every component is about as low of quality as you could imagine. Very rough castings, hand filed edges, misaligned components, paint... everywhere. It needs some TLC day one. Update (2/12/26): After a month of waiting, I received the replacement spindle... damaged. The wires were crushed presumably, in transit. I was able to repair it using parts from the original spindle. It now works as intended. Vevor offered a partial refund of $205 for my troubles, which I feel is reasonable. My two takeaways from this experience: 1. Vevor quality control is non-existent. 2. Vevor customer service is responsive and helpful. Now that the lathe has been cleaned up, adjusted and is functional, I am pretty happy with it. ... show more

  • Vevor 7x16 800W lathe
Received unscathed, motor and display worked perfectly out of the box. The spindle\motor area is different from other 7x ** lathes, motor is built into the spindle no drive belt to worry about. The cross slide and ways are the same as the others meaning it needs cleaning and major adjustments, I think it is well worth the money with some tinkering and adjusting it will be a great addition to your shop ... show more

  • Only a 2.5 inch lathe
Waste of money for a 2 inch lathe. Thought it was 7” but they grossly lied to everyone. Max stock it can hold and face is 2.5” (two and a half inches)! Everything that can be adjusted, needs adjusted. Milling chips everywhere and in everything so nothing moves freely. Sounds like sandpaper when working the slide. And heres the kicker! The crate was perfect but the guard was broken in half and some piece of the headstock is hanging on the faceplate. With the with the crosslide all the way out and the tool all the way in the most you can face is 2.5”. Thats my biggest $800 complaint with this overpriced junk. ... show more
